According to McNulty on Bbc http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35462919 The Manchester power shift is happening...
Quite honestly, given the unlimited resources that a state owned club like City has at their disposal, it's only through sheer incompetence that it hasn't happened sooner.
I mentioned this a while back and wrongly thought Pellegrini was the man to drive them on but that hasn't really happened. Man City do not have the brand and this is holding them back, adding Pep is the right move as it generates worldwide interest if he then adds star names it drives it further, it's then down to that manager to not only win the league but to push for the Champions League. They have the stadium and the facalities and are in a major city (even though it's a dump). Success will mean that their support and brand grows, the appomintment of Pep could be a big step. However I don't think he's a sure bet to be successful quite yet, it will depend on the players he brings in. Will they be complete mercs like Sterling who is there for the cash (bitter yes I know) or more like Toure who just isn't up to driving a team on for a full season. To be the very best they really have to get the right players in and for those players to want to be part of a new era in football, for them to have the desire to play for the club and that is Peps biggest challenge.
Before I put that phrase on the map, no one in the media was using it. Now, all of a sudden, it's the "in" phrase for hacks, like McNumpty, to use, what with all the talk about the North London power-shift and now the Manchester power-shift.
"He had two big, big clubs where he has worked at but now he will do his job at Manchester City." (Jurgen "Klipperty" Klopp, during his press conference) Ouch!
... he's an excellent football pundit ... he confidently predicted Leicester City's relegation on Claudio Ranieri's appointment ... (he's been on a pie only diet for some months now by all accounts)
... yes you invented the phrase .. or it might have been 'powdered ****' now I come to think of it...
Pellegrini's main failing has been being out of the running in all competitions at such an early stage of the season
Interestingly enough, I did not actually coin the phrase "North London Power-Shift." Do you want to hazard a guess as to who did? The answer may well surprise you.
City probably already have the best squad, will now have the best manager, most money and fastest growing brand etc. As a Chelsea fan I'm worried but if I was a glory hunting plastic red manc...well I'd be bloody petrified.
Fake brand, you still need fans, they dont have any. You can dress a turd anyway you like, its still a turd
Not yet. But guaranteed as soon as they sign Pogba, or Neymar or Messi, they'll have fleets of Red Devil plastics swapping allegiances.
Would that be the same Rangers who for the last 3 years have been playing teams who's average attendance is generally bolstered by a few dogs?
