A good article, along similar lines to other more positive pieces from the Telegraph. Slight innaccuracy in referring to Lovren as the leader - he clearly wasn't, emphasised whenever he plays alongside Sakho. I like the Koeman/Pochettino statistical comparisons which look good so far.

Koeman was selected to suit us (just as MP was), but he has also improved our defence up till now. And we can now come back from behind. Bodes well if this continues.

Interesting that we have less posession and shots but more goals.

Anyway, I expect things will even out (win rate wise) as the season progresses.

We've already had a few goals from distance...I think we tried to keep more possession of the ball under Mauricio and seemed wary of shooting from outside the box. That could explain our lower possession, but more goals.

Even when we pressed high up the pitch and tackled, we didn't really threaten much as we'd get it to Lambert, who had to come deep, who then had to wait for someone to make a run and they'd got players back by then. Now we have pace with Mane and a more mobile striker who's in the box more often. Our CMs have more confidence in shooting and there seems to be more team spirit.

Not sure we could have more team spirit, that was one of the real strong points of last year's team. This lot seem to be doing OK though.

Because we have less possession, and also sit back a fair bit more, there is more space in behind the opposition when we do get forward. The problem with playing a high line is that while you may have your opponents on the back foot, there's often not much space to play in.

Fewer egos looking to leave though.

We didn't know that at the time. And we don't know what will happen in the future.

I do think last season was a perfect storm. We were an exciting team with several good English players who had got called up to the England set up and had their heads turned....combine that with (whilst not exactly poor) being open to offers...and we were ripe for picking. We will be more settled this season with extra dosh (thank you, United, Arsenal and Liverpool). The board will not want a repeat of last season, especially as Koeman would object strongly to losing the core of his team. I bet we sell a couple and buy a couple...nothing worse than that.

Anyone wanting to leave has to get past Ron. I don't fancy their chances much.
