I'm sorry, I'm grateful for all he's done, but in that interview he comes across as a complete arsehole. We're City, we'll always be City and will be City long after Assem has gone. The reasons for doing it remain complete bollocks. The war starts now.
Agreed. Still no evidence of increased earnings just because we have a shorter more marketable name. I shall be at City on Saturday.. continue to support any sensible protest, wont be buying anything with a new badge or name etc. This isnt going away and he believes he has paid to do what he likes.. We just need to convince him on this aspect he is wrong!
Did you ever taste the shyte? Robinson was a self made man just like Assem Allam. If you think, had he been around today, that he would not be making commercial decisions that would upset the fans, then you're deluded.
Yet again just before a big game mr Allam thinks its ok to remind the fans its his club and he will do what he wants.
No wonder he thinks he can get away with anything with some of the clueless fans we have on here. All the newbies and those interested in seeing Stevie G won't be bothered. Those who have been supporting Hull City for a long time will be seriously considering jacking it in the day that happens. How much will it take galvanise some into action? If we did go to Melton and he decided to rename them Melton Tigers to rub it in with the council or East Yorks Tigers as they would be playing in East Yorks would they still shrug their shoulders and say it is still our club?
I'm glad he's finally clarified what everyone with even half a brain could see was coming. Based on the comments on other boards and on Twitter, I think he's finally got the fence sitters off their arses. Beware Assem, I'm close enough to point out the error of your ways on Saturday(I'll wait until we're 2-0 up though).
The people who are talking about boycotting games are going a bit far aren't they? If you support the club, then don't hold back potential earnings from concessions. tickets, memorabilia etc if you were going to go anyway.
I wouldn't boycott the games and I doubt many people would. I would make my protest by not buying any merchandise Allam thinks the whole world will be dying to buy with "Hull Tigers" on it. It is a bloody stupid name anyway and does not sound anything like a Premiership Football Club. Mind you according to this article he will be starting a trend, all other clubs will be rushing to follow suit and the Premier League will be unrecognisable in a few years.
Do you think he'd see the value in changing the (too long) name of 'Allam Marine', to 'AA Marine'. It's not only shorter - it's more egotistical, too.
David Conn ‏@david_conn 1h Assem Allam said the word City in Hull City is "redundant," & if he was owner of Manchester City he would call the club "Manchester Hunter."
David Conn ‏@david_conn @grease34 I've written a separate news story on Assem Allam's belief that many clubs will drop the City, and he will be seen as "a leader." There's something being arranged for Saturday, it may well also involve the Cardiff fans, this is an issue fairly close to their hearts to. More to follow.
Dont be daft, that was Harold Needler. Get a grip ffs. You need to look up what war actually means and does. Roobo was good but not as good as Harold Needler in my eyes. But back to Robbo, who will ever forget him riding around the edge of Boothferry Park on a white horse throwing cigars into the festive crowdl. As if any of that would be allowed nowadays. Great times sadly long gone. Allams can drop what they want imo. I shall always call them Hull City whatever he says. But to go to the lengths some are is beyond stupid. As for the protest, well it cannot be worse than the one arranged for the Norwich game. 100-150 maybe out of thousands. Time for some folks to wake up and smell the coffee.
