NA says that Saints won't give Brighton a Guard of Honour on Saturday. Have seen it done in Prem, but NA says it isn't always done, citing an example. Says he wants team concentrated on the match. If it is usual to do one, I would have understood if Saints did it (could always trip a few players as they went through), but understand the psychological reasons not to do it. Thoughts everyone?
To be fair I think we should do it. It could psychologically put off Brighton. Just think, the first thing you come out to when you have just won the league is a guard of honour. Even after Gus' talk it may remind the players they have already won Optimist here!!!
ive only seen the guard of honour done in the prem so dont see why we should, plus i reckon it wud have a negative affect on us if we did.
If the roles were reversed, I don't think I would be expecting - or even hoping - Brighton to be giving us a guard of honour. It's not that big a deal, and clearly they would have bigger things on their minds (ie fighting for 2nd place). So with that in mind, I don't see the problem with us not giving Brighton ont.
I think we should show them the respect that they deserve, then disrespect them by taking away their unbeaten record!
If everyone does it, then we should. If its only a recent thing started by Premiership fancy dans, then we shouldn't. I want our players to go out feeling they are top dog and winning. The three points to us are more important than the feelings of a team who have already made it.
