my son and I really enjoyed our day in Peterboro today.Nice pint in Charters.a FREE parking spot by taking the wrong turn and being told by one of the friendly locals I would be ok.Always a bonus. I was in the seats and they were pretty awful.I felt sorry for the steward who tried to get us to sit down, haha, she had no chance.I was surprised at Boros performance, they were very poor today but the lads did a great job. All in all a great day was had.
I made the journey by train leaving Norwich on the 10.57 and whilst the journey there was horribly overcrowded (as were all of the earlier trains apparently), but the return journey was much bettter. Found my way to the Draper's Arms which was absolutely heaving -some fans had been drinking since 8am, so were quite drunk. So much so that the manager decided to stop serving beer just after 2pm before someone got injured. I was gutted I'd chosen that pub, as I found that just across from the station, was the Oakham 'Brewery Tap' - I haven't had one of their beers that I don't like!! Got to the ground (it REALLY makes you appreciate CR) and found my apology of a seat, almost level with one of the goals and it was a rather one-sided game. The makeshift team played well and I was impressed by the performances of Tierney, Bennett, Fox and especially Jackson - his goal was an absolute gem (Moro woould NEVER have got there and not sure Holty would either) and I hope he either gets a start or comes on as a sub ahead of Morison in future. DF apologised for his team, but not sure how much that was due to how well we played and how badly they played. Anyway, will be looking forward to the draw later today and hope we avoid some of the bigger teams.
Yeah, you should have gone to the Brewery Tap mate, that's a cracking boozer with a ton of good ales on. My experience of the game yesterday was a bit different from the rest of you as I was sat in the family stand with the Posh fans, trying my hardest not to sing along with OTBC and trying to look pissed off every time we scored. I think I got away with it, still had my city shirt on under the layers though. Felt weird having the Canary faithful singing slightly disparaging songs ("that's why you're going down", "your support is ****ing ****" etc) in my direction, but hey-ho, at least I got to see the game thanks to my brother in law who was genuinely pissed off all game. As for the game, aside from the first couple of minutes it was as one-sided an affair as you could imagine, we were in full control and Posh hardly threatened our goal all game. As had been said the 'fringe players' came in and did everything expected of them, everyone looked assured and good on the ball from Barnett to Lappin via the excellent Bennett and Jackson. Job done, mission accomplished and now Crissy has a real selection dilemma on his hands for the Newcastle game, which can only be a good thing
Whilst Jackson's finish was sublime, the ball from Fox was something else. I don't think there's anyone else in our squad with the vision to have hit that ball. Whilst it might not quite be in the same league as Giggs' vs West Ham, if that'd been from, say Carrick, in a PL game, then MOTD would have been waxing lyrical about it.
Can't argue with that, a stunning and very long intended pass. Does help mind when you are given the time and space to do it, which Posh were guilty of for most of the game.
I really wish we could merge Bradley and Fox into one player with Johnson's ability to win the ball and Fox's passing and vision. That player would be one of the first names on the team sheet.
I've been saying this for ages. Unfortunately, if we could, that player would very quickly be wanted by top clubs!
Unfortunately for us - or anyone else keeping half an eye on Bridcutt's progress, a man of the match performance on national TV in a giant-killing cause is just what potential suitors didn't want He probably added another 0 on to his transfer value after that display.
