I find the new official site so user unfriendly that vitriole is left on the screen when trying to navigate - is it that people of my age 65 when taken out of their comfort zone get cranky - tell me to get used to it or what ? I will now take a pill with a glass of shiraz and get on with it !!!
It is certainly a struggle to get it to work, what with my age, my hopeless Broadband connection and now I find it is so s l o w on my mobile I have come to the conclusion that the new OS is strictly for nerds, blue tooth and BT Openworld users!
As my name would suggest its 8.30 pm in the old colonial outpost so a few beers a spag bol with the shiraz is what is needed to be done , in another hour i wont care where i live -HURRAH !!
I'm a software developer and I think it's rancid! I don't know any designers who would put half that crap on there.
On the subject of adapting to change, I think it is critical for mankind to adapt to the impacts of climate change such as through modified crops which are more resistant to drought in sub-Saharan Africa. Even in the Global North, adapting to climate change is necessary by increasing the amount of energy generated through renewable energy such as a wind, tidal and solar as well as increasing the feasibility of electric vehicles, and so on....
I have adapted to climate change, I've been wearing a raincoat all bloody summer. I really don't like change. When the very lovely Mrs Godders uses the computer she always moves the key board to the left about half an inch so that when I go to use the computer I end up with nothing but typos. For example Saints ends up as Dsomyd.
I'm 42, work in IT (so used to constant change - hell I cause most of it!)and a geek. BUT, I hate it. Too slow to load and too 'busy' I don't bother with it much, get most my news from here or BBC.
That's me! I decided to take a look at the website seeing as that's what the thread's about. You really weren't joking when you said it was slow, in terms of accessibility, just awful. Managed to get in, it is a bit messy. Kind of like Farnborough's website, definitely prefer Portsmouth's which is less cluttered.
A lot of peope use the News Now wesbite for Saints news, it's an easier way of getting news instead of going onto the OS to see if there's anything new. http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier League/Southampton
I'm not a technophobe, nor a technophile, but I find the new website very slow, very cluttered, and far too dark on my new eyephone. As a result I am using the new club website less and less. probably not the result they were looking for. as to PompeyLapras's comment "....prefer Portsmouth's which is less cluttered." Lets hope that by Friday 2300 hours there is still something to be less cluttered about!
Glad to see other people are displeased with new website. As a long time grumpy old man I am usually told to get on with it.The new site is a classic example of someone confusing change with improvement. As an ex teacher( don't all boo at once) I had a career of 'experts' constantly telling me to change for the better. Better is good, change sometimes means new c--p. Rant over. Will look elsewhere for Saints info from now on.
You missed a perfect opportunity there, you should have said "Baby I like it":
Oh good, I have two threads to say what rubbish the new OS is. The first duty of any website is the rapid dissemination of information...but it's slow and cumbersome. A large photo is not information!!!
Thanks for the link Kate! I need some news because since the OS changes all I get here in Serbia is the night time picture of St. Marys and then everything stops. Any ideas what causes this software developers? cheers ... John
