It's great to see the recent optimism amongst fellow Saints fans about our promotion chances. There's been a definite change in the mood in the last week or so. Rarely do you read a comment where someone underestimates the opposition (despite how regularly we have been accused of arrogance, mostly amongst the Bournemouth fans). We seem to have a belief that we can do it and at times knowing Saints, the hard way, as the MK Dons game showed. This has all translated to the stands, a realistic optimism that we can do this but at the same time knowing that it won't be easy.

Let's get as many into SMS for our last 3 home games. Our away fans need no encouragement with sellouts at Orient, Plymouth, Brighton and Brentford (likely).

We are IMO one of the best set of fans in the FL, both in quantity and quality! Let's be the 12th man and cheer the lads onto promotion! :emoticon-0100-smile

This is the most confident I have ever been as a Saints fan. We won't always get it right but you sense we have a manager in NA who has ideas that can change things. He is in the position of having players now that can implement his ideas. If we are promoted, I'm sure we will have a decent season next year, with perhaps a 2nd promotion the following year. WE must support the team and NA, especially if the going gets tough. We are not fairweather fans. In Nigel we trust.

Good posts both of you.....there is a lot of optimism which surely after what we have been through over the last 4 years or so, we are just a little entitled to? Can't agree more lets fill St Mary's up with both people and sound...... Come on you Saints

Yes exactly, fairweather fans would not have attained such high attendances in the Champ and L1 during what we would all now with some retrospect, consider darker days. And provided we go up this season, I fully expect us to fare well in the Championship. Like others have said on this forum, the more open and attacking style of the Champ will suit us down to the ground. This is why you see Norwich and Leeds doing well this year.

And I agree Fran. Not to get too carried away, I think a year of consolidation is probably in order before a promotion push to the prem. It's more the point that we wouldn't be ready for the Prem the season after next, another year would give us time to reunite and swell the fan base and get the necessary additions to complete the squad. But whichever way you look at it, I'm glad I'm a Saints fan here and now. A very bright future awaits us all!

Thing is as Saints fans we know only too well that our hopes can be dashed oh so quickly. That I feel is why we remain confident without going overboard.

Mind you if we win the next two matches we will have a full house for our next game at St Mary's for the Gaz.

We have very good support at this level, but have seen little sign we will sell out for any match this year. Couldn't do it for the ManU match. Only a Pompey game would guarantee that. My next (and last game) game this season is next Saturday. Wish I could make the Walsall game. Should be a celebration (fingers crossed) and a chance to thank the team, NA and NC. COYR

Not forgetting Markus though. He should be celebrated big-time if we get the party atmosphere we want for the last game. We should make it ML and NC day.

One reason we didn't sell out for ManUre is that a lot of us who cherry pick didn't want to travel that far to see us lose.

Be honest, those who live close to the ground. Would you pay £100 per home game? What price a season ticket?

We are a long way from beating ManUre, barring a fluke result. I woud rather drive a 5 hour round trip and pay £100 ish including petrol to see us win.
