QPR hold last minute talks to sign French winger SPORT WITNESSSport Witness Football View Discussions cording to reports in Italy, Queens Park Rangers held talks last night with Serie A club Cesena over the transfer of Gregoire Defrel. The Premier League side have been linked with the player for the past week and they travelled to Italy at the weekend in an attempt to land the player before the transfer window closes. Manager Harry Redknapp is looking to strengthen the squad in this window to help in their aim to avoid relegation back to the Championship and he sees Defrel as a possibility. TMW have reported that QPR were present at the Cesena and Lazio league game yesterday afternoon. The London side were among a number of other Premier League side who attended the game that were watching Defrel including Everton who themselves have been linked with the player during this transfer window. Cesena pulled off a shock 2-1 victory against Lazio and Defrel scored his side’s opening goal and he also played the full ninety minutes. It has been claimed that after the game QPR had plans to hold talks with Cesena with regards to the player moving to England the transfer window shuts. However, QPR will face competition from other clubs to sign the Frenchman and in particular Atalanta and Torino who were both present at the Cesena and Lazio game. The Seroe A sides have been tracking Defrel for some time and will provide stiff competition to QPR to sign him. Cesena are not keen to sell their star player during this window but if the right bid came in then QPR may have a chance of signing him.
