The new FA chairman has come out and said that they're too many foreign players and too many young foreign players. He also said that the premier league is where the best players come to finish their careers. He's also said that out goal is to win the 2022 world cup. His interview is on SSN now.
Greg Dyke is the best chairman the FA have had for years, possibly ever. He might find he's got a hell of a job on his hands getting things sorted though. He could start by sacking Southgate and employing Hoddle.
There is a massive difference between wanting to win a world cup and being able to do so. England are not able. He needs to get the grass roots sorted first. Build solid foundations. Once Gerrard and Lampard retire next summer and possibly Ashley Cole as well we only have Jack Wilshere of any notable talent. Did you not take note of this summer and our England U21 and 19's btw..... We wont win another WC until we do.
I didn't say anything about us winning a World Cup. I said he's absolutely right to be aiming to do that. He's obviously going to focus on the grass roots. He isn't just going to blindly expect to win a World Cup by doing nothing for the next 11 years. Just because you want England to fail doesn't mean the rest of us do.
Stop talking tripe. I have seen England win a world cup when we had talent and i have seen the way our game has gone diown hill. (ie. producing world class England players). I would like to see the day when we can once again challenge the likes of Brazil - Spain - Germany for a world cup. Sadly we are a million miles away. As for Greg Dyke he cannot be any worse than the muppets who have run the English FA for the past 2/3 decades.
Whoosh.......... I have never said that. Greg Dyke has got a mega job on his hands to sort out the mess that is England.
Why am I not surprised that the Jock supporter laughs at this? Go move north of the border since you love them so much.
The overriding issue in English football is the fact there are two conflicting organisations at the top of the administrative pyramid. As long as that continues England will fail.
Sadly the PL have more power over the teams that matter to England success, and without some way to fundamentally change the game at the top end, anything they do at grass roots level won't have much impact. Brave words from Greg, but they're just that, words, we need meaningful actions such as a winter break, earlier start and later finish to the season, teams forced to play more English players, plus loads of other obvious things everyone knows but won't happen.
