Resigned over the use of the word 'coloured' and sexism for saying 'young girls don't like playing in goal because the ball hurts'.
He apologised immediately citing his time working in the USA when it was the norm over there to say 'people of colour' .

I can't help it, and I know I'm wrong because my daughter tells me on a weekly basis, but to me is woke going mad ?

I agree, this sort of stuff really gets to me.

I refer you to my previous post on this subject where I express the view that too many people are telling us what to think and how to behave. As I said before, I will continue to make my own judgements and behave accordingly!

a discussion recently... talking about Colstons girl school, the Colston hall and the merchants quarter part of the conversation revolved around the singularly mis named BLM ORGANIZATION [ it was prompted by SLJ's first and second part of ENSLAVED ] one of the group has a close relatives who has parents who are of different colours. To ENSURE they made the right choice on [ although within extended family it never comes up ] she was asked how would you describe yourself? Her Dad wishes to be called English OR British . .. or if needs be WHITE, her mum English or British OR should needs be black. [ but here are ancestral connotations on both sides! ] Her answer was ENGLISH or BRITISH as for colour what does it matter I am human! [ AGED 24]
NOW her dads ancestry goes back to 1765 .. In 1846 her gt gt [gt] grandfather married a Brazilian lady [ mixed race!] he was a sailor. Her mothers ancestry goes back to 1872 where both "gt [gt] grandparents" were apparently of mixed race her grand parents are both black [ apparently mother and grandparents are of a lighter black, Hamilton colour ] her 2 brothers very pale.
rather than me say what I am … HOW DO you figure it out?...………..
what a quandary... no mans land! … in between!

a few years ago there was programme that contents of … [ think it applied to BBC COUGH COUGH ! ] when doing a programme they had to be REPRESENTITIVE !

like voting a for an against and undecided etc but also that [at the time programme was a few years ago ] had to be fair with population …. male view female view where applicable race creed or colour .. at the time was something like 4 white 1 of ethicnic. I have always watched programmes to see whether these "guide lines " represent those guidelines … and to be fair until a year or so ago they did.. over the last 9 months or so they have been turned on their head grossly ignored... have you noticed [ going by the guide lines ] how many families of mixed race there are now! [ based on adverts ]. Banks and companies seem to have abandoned peeps like us … guess they assume we will be taken for granted and use their services ….

The whole world, especially the U..K., but over here a somewhat watered down level of political correctness is still a thorn in the side of many Canadians. Several years ago the name of Chinaman's Peak was deemed insulting and yet it was named to honour the Chinese workers who toiled on the building of the trans- continental railway where they were employed as labourers and cooks, and most of them remained in Canada and became respected in society. Sadly enough recently the oriental citizens are taking a lot of verbal abuse thanks in the main due to the idiot down south who called it the Chinese virus.

Our biggest issue when it comes to political correctness is due to the first nations people who seem to think they should get a free ride at taxpayers expense due to the injustices they suffered during colonization but surely there has to be a best before date. I study the news from my birth country and I am shocked at how the country has gone down the tubes since I left in 1975 and it would appear that the hereditary rights of my fellow countrymen are slowly being eroded by people who really don't care about others as long as the benefits keep coming and they can live a life of their own selfish choice. The people who are truly struggling should get the assistance they need and all the loafers out there should get a wake up call and get off their backsides.

    Inver
It is the Chinese virus as far as I'm concerned.
Their medieval 'food' markets eating bat, insects, dog etc etc are barbaric. Whether it came from this or a laboratory in Wuhan and sorry Inver - to me it's a Chinese virus.

    It's all bullshit
Why does no one in authority have the guts to stand up and say, the vast majority of right minded people in this country are sick and tired of being dictated to as to what we can and can't say, and we aren't prepared to put up with this **** any longer ?

I always thought 'coloured' was alright until a few months ago.... didn't have a clue myself. Surely it's all about intention rather than the exact words they're saying? If it's clearly not meant to offend, then what's the problem?

Agreed, but someone in politics who actually stood up and pushed back against this nonsense would gain a hell of a lot of votes when the time comes.

As Rod delights, I had ginger hair till over the years it's turned a lot whiter.
All my life I've been called, mainly by old school pals, ginger. Have I cared, not a jot.
That was until Ian Wright got into a spat with Boris Becker on TV. Losing the argument he reverted to calling Boris a 'ginger' (as in ringer).
Imagine the BBC's reaction if Boris had called him you ............ or something.
All this woke stuff is making integration harder and alienating many in this country.
    It's bollocks.

And you are correct, the English language is being culturally sub divided.

Only gay people can use certain words to describe other gay people and only BAME can use certain words to describe people of their own ethnicity. If the words are offensive, they are offensive FULL STOP.

And then there is cultural appropriation, where only black people are allowed to have dreadlocks and similar but they are allowed to have their hair straightened or to wear wigs in a style normally expected to be seen on white people. If such a thing as cultural appropriation exists, it is either FOR ALL or NOT AT ALL.

Even rappers/hip hop artists are allowed to use violent, racist, sexist and anti gay rhetoric in their songs.

White people are being asked to make amends for crimes perpetuated hundreds of years ago, but others are not being asked to make amends for crimes committed last week and overwhelmingly against their own kind.

But here is a good starting point, the UK has to stop ALL religious leaders being allowed to make inflammatory statements about other religions, other races of people and the LGBT community and then hiding behind their religion and the same goes for the followers of those religions.

As I keep saying the rule of law is dying a slow death in the UK and most importantly we have lost the ability to investigate without fear or favour.

PS:- If cultural appropriation is a real thing, start with the white yout, who wanna sound like they is black innit.

Where did the person or people who inform you what is right get that power?

Well quite. You know as well as I do it's down to society, but I suppose that's why you're saying it. My understanding is that 'coloured' was used in a derogatory way before and that's why it's deemed offensive. That seems fair enough to some extent but then it's not fair to criticise someone who's genuinely not in the know and where there was zero offence meant.

At the end of the day I won't shout about it because I haven't been persecuted in any way growing up, whereas some people have had horrendous treatment through no fault of their own. But I certainly see both sides of the argument here, choosing the correct term is somewhat of a minefield...
