Waggy adds more to the team without a doubt, more energy .works harder, more of a goal threat. Green better coming off the bench....it really is a no brainer Waggy every time.
Absolutely agree. From what I've seen Green isn't adding a huge amount to the team at the moment, Waggy is a great finisher and seems to have a lot more pride than Green, shown by Waggy's work rate
can someone just ban him. please..... i preferred waggy. works well with solly and puts more of a shift in.
Saw Green at the Tranmere game and he just dont look that interested to be honest..you could never accuse waggy of not giving his all agree with sat in Greenwich he links well withsolly
Yeah, as much as I think Powell is doing a great job, I think he made a mistake in dropping Waggy, especially with that partnership being forged with Solly
Green shone at Dag&Red like a sequin dropped on a dog-poop. For us, his talents are not shining because we have a good squad. All the talk about Green linking up with Benson will not materialise because Benson should never again pull on the sacred shirt of Charlton Athletic. Waggy and Solly work brilliantly, they are hard-working and on the same wavelength. They must be restored on Saturday.
Green is a huge disappointment. I expected much more. Didn't go yesteday but against Tranmere he wouldn't even try to take his man on.
Waggy every time. I have said to many people you will see what Waggy brings when he is not there. I can't believe Sir Chris changed a winning team,Hayes has a great understanding with BWP,holds the ball up well and some clever flicks, which granted dont all come off,but most do.Greens work rate has been shocking. I know that we are all intitled to our own opinion but as for the suggestion of Sam,spare me!!!!!!........ The point i wish to make is bring back Waggy NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............
So what we are all saying really is play the best team. Not rocket science - we won 8 from 12. Solly, Wagstaff and Hayes IN
Waggy is like Walcott, hit and miss... some games he can be outstanding, takes his man on, sends in dangerous crosses, scores goals, assists goals, then other games you wonder if he is actually on the pitch as he spends alot of time wondering or passing the ball backwards... But to drop him is poor mananagement that would of hurt him a great deal and damaged his confidence bigtime! I would like to see Harriotts take a spot on the bench, he really impressed me last season sooner Pritchard is back the better !!
He's played 2 league game guys. Not the time to write him off, but back him. He's a good player who is playing in a side that's underachieving currently. He'll come good, and our form will turn.
Im with you on this Mike. It's like the England debate with the whole should we pick our best players or best team? In my mind, without question Green is the more gifted of the two, but Wagstaff brings so much more to the team in terms of balance and industry. Very similar to playing Kermit over Hayes, all of a sudden we have reverted to route one football and we are paying for it, both in terms of results and the drop off in performances from Stephens, BWP and Solly in particular.
Trouble Powell had with team selection against Stevenage was the fact that he'd only really started Green and Kermit for one game and then drop them, what would that have shown in terms of giving his players confidence. I honestly think now though that Powell should go back to the original eleven which if we win I believe it'll hopefully make Green and Kermit sit up and realise they need to improve on their performances to be starting every week. By all means bring them on with 20mins to go if we're chasing the game or drawing (i.e. MK Dons)
"At Dagenham we had to take our own kit home and wash it. But here it is all laid out for you when you arrive. "It looks like the hard work has paid off." Quote from Green, sounds like a man who thinks the journeys over, thoughts ??
At the end of last season CP gave Francis 3 games to prove himself before deciding he was surplus to requirement. I wonder if he'll give Green one more game to prove himself?
No, because it's easy to write off a player bought by your predecessor, like Francis (or McOxo); Green was a CP signing, therefore it's his judgement at stake. Besides, it's far too early to judge Green.
The thing is waggy was dropped and by popular demand for Green. Green has played and failed thus far the team hasnt been winning with him starting so no reason what so ever to keep him in. Waggy has to return to the starting 11,Green to drop to the bench until the need to start him arises again. Sometimes you dont realise players contribution to the team until they arent playing I think waggy is a prim case.a reasl team player. Surely solly will return to right back this week too.
I don't agree with the original post that Green should be brought on in the last 20 minutes, quite the opposite, I prefer having Waggy as an impact player who runs at tired defenders. GREEN - failed to live up to expectations so far but has been far from terrible. Wagstaff - a shadow of the player he was last year. GREEN +great crossing +some nice little tricks and flicks +capable of controlling the ball well +long throws and free-kicks -not that fast -inconsistent -can be very anonymous WAGSTAFF +bags of pace +pace is very useful when utilised as a 'super-sub' +shows some promise occasionally when played upfront -never takes on the defender -cannot cross -plays well with Solly -argues with officials too much -dives a lot I'm split between wanting to revert back to our 'winning 11' by dropping Green, with wanting Green to show what he can do (I genuinely believe Green would be more useful, I feel Wagstaff excites us with his pace but when you watch what he actually DOES in a game, its usually very little). BUT, guys you must remember, Green has been scouted by the club for a long time prior to signing, he wasn't a panic-buy, the owners, scouts and CP all considered whether it would be worthwhile bringing him here and the answer was yes. Don't write him off just yet, he was great in pre-season/the Reading cup match and had a pretty decent reputation at Dagenham.
