Only for those who are looking.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTO...n-O-Driscoll/story-19824074-detail/story.html I thought we moved the ball about quite well against Peterboro in the first half, but the confidence is so fragile, any setback and it collapses, We asked for youth. We asked for home grown kids. We asked for a 'clear out'. We asked for a passing style of football. We asked for a decent academy. Seems to me SOD is doing all he can possible to deliver what we asked for, all he has asked in return is some patience (mid september is not showing patience btw.) and above all some support for the new players and kids. We're the 'supporters' is he asking too much of us? I was completely underwhelmed by SOD's appointment, but I am now beginning to believe he does have a plan and can be the man to change the fortunes of this club around, besides whats the alternative? It can only get better can't it? We're all disappointed by our league position but lets stay together and help these kids out.
Green Shoots - that's what I hoped I'd seen against Palace and the Rovers - alas I was wrong and was it 2 poor teams we played. Or could Parish make that much difference ? 'and help these kids out' The kids ??? Reid and Bryan are our best bets. It's the likes of Fielding, Wagstaffe, O'Connor that are useless. How Fielding keeps his place in the most fragile City side in a long time beggars belief. However, the biggest problem is SOD and his 'new passing style'. You know, pass it back and for the back four three times THEN launch it. Of all the years I've watched City I've never seen so many long balls aimed at a 'Jet and Baldock' - Baldock FFS. Even if there was a time we played long balls, we didn't call it 'our new passing style'.
You've hit the nail on the head there banksy Yes the season thus far has been disappointing and I think we all hoped we had at least won one game by now but patience is the key. Like you said we have got what we asked for now lets watch it unfold and make us a better team
I'd like to think it's only a matter of time, but looking at recent results and performance I just can't see where a win is coming from Very depressing when all of the little clubs with a 'can do' attitude are going about the business of playing for each other and getting results. We need to look to the likes of Orient, Brentford and Walsall to see well run and enthusiastic teams.
"However, the biggest problem is SOD and his 'new passing style'. You know, pass it back and for the back four three times THEN launch it" Redprintt if you read the article this point is addressed.! and quite true as well.. "It's the likes of Fielding, Wagstaffe, O'Connor that are useless. How Fielding keeps his place in the most fragile City side in a long time beggars belief" Surely not every player who has been decent elsewhere can come to us and turn to crap?? We need to look closer to home..
Wins will soon appear. If that amount of possession can be gained in future there is enough abilty within the team to take advantage of it. I would happily advise kids to watch the skills of a Joe Bryan and Emmanuelle Thomas v players who have been here very recently. Kick and boot challenge for everything is gone, pressing and getting stick in has gone and the rules will see to that. Time for City to move on and evolve. The club from community truts - academy - XI has to be structured to meet the challenges football presents i.e It is almost non contact, emphasis on players playing v tackling and pressing.
The Club was Championship last season, the players who are starting bar one or two was not Championship team last year. It will take time, but let's be patient and wait a bit longer before running the new ones down.
The THEN launch it bit is caused by idiots who are screaming at them to "get it forward" rather than being patient and keeping the ball when we look much better
Pass it sideways, back, sideways then launch it? This team? nowhere near as much as the past two seasons. Some people forget how dire the football was when KM was in charge. What is it with BCFC fans? success has to be instant. We have never been one of the big players, we have never been a really big club, we have no God given right to be in the Championship/Premiership. We are a smallish club (fanbase wise) and have been for as long as I can remember. Yes the City may have the potential to be a "bigger" club but that is going to take time what with the new regulations, a restructuring of the club and the need to build an academy to produce home grown players. I'm sure SL hasn't played all that money in in order to see the club struggle. So let's get behind the club and go forward. Rant over!
'Surely not every player who has been decent elsewhere can come to us and turn to crap?? We need to look closer to home..' Whether we look closer to home or not, for me I question SOD's judgement. eg - We have a young kid here and yet SOD chose to start with Kilkenny this season. Some fans said he wanted to see Kilkenny first. My a*so, his judgement was that Kilkenny was a better bet than Reid. A blind man could see different. O'Connor, Wagstaffe, FIELDING FFS, let alone a pattern of play. For me I repeat, I question SOD's judgement.
Agree with the first half but not the 2nd. Fielding has been terrible in the league, Some of the goals he has let in this season Jamo would of kept out. He needs to pick up form now as he is the main reason we are where we are IMO
'do our expectations overburden the players who wear our shirt. ??' - It never 'overburdened' John Galley. What 'overburdens' the current bunch is their collective ability and how they're managed. Competition. Name a worse BCFC Keeper than Fielding ?
Lets hope we can turn out a winning streak as long as our non-winning one. If we can win a few on the trot it will be a better team altogether. Its all about confidence, and if the fans were doing their bit we would maybe give the kids a lift
Out of interest, was Fielding soley to blame for any goals conceded against Swindle? Or was it more of a team effort.....
Someone made a good point on twitter. Moloney a great RB, Flint is the big dominant CB we needed, Williams is composed and good on the ball, Cunningham one of the best players last year. Only trouble is they are **** when they play together
