Wagstaff's best position is in the middle, judging by his reaction against Preston when he was pushed back over to the wing he agrees. So although they say don't change a winning team, I think we'll be a stronger team with Green playing wide.
This debate could run on all season. Waggy gives us goals, lung-busting workrate and reasonable defensive cover, but as a right winger often frustrates. Green has Beckham's crossing ability and more skills in his locker, but his temperament is questionable, as is his workrate. I have absolutely no idea who should start, thankfully it's not my decision
Judging by the goal on tuesday night, Danny Green definitely looks the stronger option out wide! However it's quite likely Powell will want to stick with the unbeaten team.
My point is stupid, but bear with me. Whilst green will improve the team (and a player I've pushed to start as I'm not a fan of wag on the right), I think scotty should start tomorrow. Consistency in playing personnel is working, and whilst he may be the weak link in that position- I think the team should line up until beaten.
Green is the key man, will dominate our right wing position this year, Powell should convert Waggy into a striker, he can finish but I am not impressed by his crossing ability, but that's just my opinion.
That's what I want, Ted, opinions, and in this case I agree. I thought it was interesting that when Popo came on against Preston Waggy made clear his displeasure at having to go back out wide. Anyone else notice this?
Waggy will, and should, only move up front if BWP is injured. For me, he is the next best finisher at the club and could work well up front with either Hayes or Kermit. But, in my opinion, the right-wing berth should belong to Waggy - for now! Green is still coming back to fitness and will offer a great cameo should we need it with 20-30 minutes remaining. Waggy on the other hand, has done nothing to suggest that he should lose his place - yet! Dropping him could only be justified after a poor run of form, not before.
We were struggling on Tuesday night until Green and Kermit came on and it literally transformed the team, don't under-estimate the impact they both made, at 1-1 I felt we were going to go on and win the game but couldn't see this happening when Wagstaff in particular was still on the pitch, he doesn't have the ability to beat the fullback and his crosses were catching practice for the keeper, sorry but Green must start tomorrow, saying we must keep a winning team isn't always a reason not to drop someone because until Green and Kermit came on the game looked lost. Wagstaff's rightly had a fair run in the team but his impact the last few games has been minimal and it's time to bring Green in for a run in the side.
Wagstaff's cross sealed the game didn't win it, Green's cross got us a point so there's little difference there Other than that Wagstaff's recent impact has been minimal and crossing been catching practice for the keeper
