Early days of course, but just curious, any thoughts on the green stuff? After all the debate and criticism about it last year, and the explanation we got from the head groundsman, and considering we've had pretty much the perfect grass growing year so far, I wondered if it looked better?
To be fair, it looked bloody lovely. Best pitch I recall seeing at KC/BP. Let's wait until Christmas to see how it holds up though.
Heh no. Genuinely interested, I loved the piece on the OWS by the grounds keeper explaining why it looked utter ****e, never really appreciated how much goes into keeping a pitch in good condition, and like others, happy to blame the thugs who chase egg shaped balls. Ta for the description TNF, and yeah, Im gonna be interested in seeing how it holds up. Jesus, I sound like some sort of grass nerd.
I commented to my mate when we arrived at the Rotherham game that it looked like a beautiful green carpet. Furthermore, I confirmed that I wished I'd brought my boots along, as I fancied a kick about on it. Oh how he laughed. "Haha" we went, merrily. Not so soon as the laughter had died down, did I pose the question; "But for how long?" A darkness in mood fell upon us, as we contemplated the very real possibility that come the dark nights of November, that pitch could be a boggy mess again. Then I found something else to think about. But yes, it's nice.
It looked so nice I actually just wanted to strip off and roll around on it naked. Rub my face on it and feel its soft green goodness. But just like party wondered how long for, and could see where people had been in the warmup and how battered and churned up sections of the pitch already were. It's still too soft and I guess it will still be a mud bath by winter.
Pitch looks great and with only one more Rugby League game to go on it happy days. Even looks good on the tv. FL,show saturday night. The trick now is to keep it that way as long as possible.
Hull should get a home play off tie but i'm pretty sure playing football in the rain in the winter will do more damage than rugby players in the summer on a hard surface!! Cardiff and Reading had great playing surfaces last year despite having rugby and footy played on their grounds through winter with scrums and rucks churning the pitch up! Hopefully the groundsmen have sorted the poor quality of pitch the KC has had over the past few years!
To me, in my not so expect opinion the grass looks a bit long, there are foot prints all over the place where the grass has been flattened. It looks good without those footballers/rugby players churning it up though! _______ Chances are FC will have a home game in the play offs, but it will only be 1 max because of our finishing position.
