A little outside of scope for our board but having just watched the Barca v Gooners game, I think Barca have to be the best club side of all time. Anyone think of better?

Depends how far you go back. Real Madrid in the late 50's probably.

Sunderland of the nineties were supposedly pretty handy. The 1890's that is.

Hmm. When you have Puskas, di Stefano and Gento in one side, that counts. Who else has won a European title 7-3?
    Brilliant.

An old boy that used to come with us to the matches claimed we hadn't had a good keeper since Johnny Mapson - and I thought HE was old........................!

I take it that's not from personal experience ?!

well for a single season surely the arsenal team that went a whole season unbeaten in the top league in the world could have a mention,

Having seen the Real team in the late 50s/ early 60s and the present Barca team I would say Barca because they have players who can play in tight situations whereas Real was all about wing play. Plus in the game mentioned Eintracht Frankfurt were the best of a bad bunch as it was a knock out cup in those days so you just had to win home and away and avoid any of the big guns. It was champions only as well

Having seen the fantastic Real side in the late 50's and many good sides since I feel that the current Barca team are by far the best side.

The Liverpool team of the late 70's to 80's was one to admire. Kevin Keegan, Steve Heighway, Ray Clemence, Graeme Souness, Alan Hansen, Phil Thompson, Mark Lawrenson, Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, John Barnes. Some great players listed, but I agree that Barca are the best club side I have ever seen in my lifetime!

Of course, what we'll never know is just how good Man U would have been had Munich never happened. Could well be that they'd have knocked Real off their perch.

bumble ha ha ha, nice one. Im not old enough to remember the Real side of the late 50s but certainly some great players in there. Good point about the Busby's Babes of Utd. We all seem to agree though that this current group at Barca are well up there in the all time list. I dream of seeing Barca at the SOL one day. Who knows?
