Great team spirit has been behind our revival, says Bristol City's Brendan Moloney. please log in to view this image Bristol City's Brendan Moloney has credited the side's team spirit A less committed group of players might have gone under after being out-fought and beaten 3-0 by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last month, a defeat that plunged the Robins deep into relegation trouble and set alarm bells ringing inside Ashton Gate. But rather than succumb to mounting pressure, manager Steve Cotterill's team responded in positive fashion, summoning three straight wins against Gillingham, Shrewsbury Town and Peterborough United before consolidating their recovery by holding Swindon Town to a 0-0 draw last time out. A ten-point haul from four games has helped City move up to 15th place in the table and banished memories of last month's debacle in south Yorkshire. Right-back Moloney sought to explain the recent improvement in terms of a strong team ethic and insisted every member of staff was now pulling in the same direction. He said: "We are all prepared to fight for one another and that has made the difference. "We all get on both on and off the pitch and look out for one another. "When things are going against you, that belief and spirit can carry you through and that is what has happened here. "There is a totally different mood about the place now and every one of us is pulling in the same direction." Moloney describes defeat to Sheffield United as a watershed in City's season. He said: "We knew our performance at Sheffield United was not acceptable and we knew we could not afford to let it happen again. When you play that badly and lose that heavily, you have to respond. Losing up there brought us closer together and made us even more determined to put things right." City demonstrated notable resilience to protect slender leads in games against Gillingham, Shrewsbury and Peterborough to win games they may well have lost earlier in the season. "We showed we are capable of defending for our lives and battling for one another when the chips are down," said Moloney. "There is a real determination to succeed in our dressing room and we all want the same thing. Confidence and belief are growing with every win and we are enjoying coming to work. The mood in the camp is a lot more positive now and that is helping." Bristolpost.co.uk/Great-team-spirit-revival-says-Bristol-City-s/story-20831655-detail/story.html#ixzz2wUnTQS5b
