I can't believe that I've only just come across this website! (I'm sure many of you already know about it). Great sit. http://www.statbunker.com/football/btb/index.php?PL=competition&CompID=370&statType=assist To share a few with you (some very well-known, some less so - Championship only): *3rd highest average home attendance (24,980 - expect this to go over the 25,000 mark after the Brighton game) *2nd highest average attendance in games where we're the away side (20,007) *2nd fewest number of players to have started a league game (18) *Joint-leading goal-scorer (Lambert, 9 goals) *Only side with a 100% home record *Joint-top most goals scored at home (21) *Joint-second fewest goals conceded at home (5) *Joint-third most amount of points collected away (12) *Most goals scored away (16) *Only club with four players to have scored 5+ goals (Lambert, Guly, Lallana, Connolly) *Three of the top five assisters this season (Lambert 3rd=; Guly 3rd=; Lallana 5th=) * 10 out of 10 record for winning when leading at HT *Highest goals-scored-per-game ratio (2.313 per game) *2nd fewest number of yellow cards received (18) *Joint-third fewest number of over 30 year olds used (3) *Most regular used substitute (De Ridder, 14 times) *Bart is one of only four players in the whole league to have been named on the bench for all 16 matches so far. Oh yeah, and we're top of table.
Apparently we only have 8 English players in our entire squad. That can't be right. Had a look on the BBC and there's Ashdown, Henderson, Ward, Williams, Kitson, Mullins, Norris, Halford, Varney, Pearce..... Either way, interesting website
Henderson is Irish, and who is Williams? Has he played this season? Take those two players, and you have 8.
I've just looked Williams up on wikipedia (he only turned 18 last month, so I guess not too surprising that I didn't recognise him). Apparently he's Australian.
Oh right. Fair enough. Thank you. Williams has played this season. He was the only decent player against Brighton when he came on as a sub in the second half!
Yeah, I was careful how I worded that one - and even how I have done so, it's still not clear. It's the attendance of any game in which you've been the away team. You might notice that our highest away attendance just so happens to exactly equal Derby's highest home attendance. The reason? Because it's the same match. Without having a look myself, I'm guessing Pompey's highest of 33,465 was the attendance of their match at Upton Park.
I'm guessing it means the attendances at games when a team plays away. So for example if we play in Leeds, and they get 35k at Elland Road, that would be the away attendance though only 2,000 or so are Portsmouth fans. The fact that our lowest and highest are above yours could suggest that lots of people are keen on seeing Portsmouth Although it could also be they just know we haven't won away since March so are expecting a win, hence bigger crowds. Then again, I think it's not very easy to compare with other teams unless you've played the same teams away.
Indeed. On the one hand, being in 2nd place (in the "away attendances") is impressive seeing as we have yet to visit Upton Park, Elland Road, The Riverside, The City Ground, & St Andrews (all of which would bring our average up). On the other hand, it's not so impressive seeing as though we've yet to visit The Keepmoat, London Road, Bloomfield Road and, dare I say it, Fratton Park.
It's certainly not the finished article yet. Just asking it which player carry the all-time record for hat-tricks for Saints reveals 1 for Rickie Lambert and 1 for Stern John. Now call me Mr Pedantic, but I think a certain Mr Le Tissier and a Mr R T Davies, amongst many others, would dispute that stat.
Haha. Can't say I ventured beyond the stats for this season. Personally, my pick of the stats that I've listed is that we've received the 2nd lowest number of yellow cards. Not only is this impressive, but it's also somthing which I had no idea about. I noticed that Brighton lead the way there, with a massive 35 yellows. Presumably about 34 of them were for time-wasting.
interesting to see that birmingham have only used 59% of subs so far this season. surely they should be using the majority of their subs because they have played so many games this season?
Thats funny a certain Alan Shearer should be in the quote then, or Maybe One Micky Channon, or maybe Martin Chivers George O'brien, or even Derek Reeves and finally one Charlie Wayman?
