Roy Keane actually said this on ITV after the match!
No wonder he ain't got a job in football any more.

  2. Hm.

Against decent opposition, Defoe struggled. That's nothing new.

Gerrard getting sent off will force Woy to rethink his tactics, which won't be such a bad thing.

Scotland's point against Macedonia isn't looking as bad as it should have done after Wales' thrashing at the hands of Serbia. The Wales v Scotland game is looking like a 6-pointer.

Keane is right, we luckily beat Ukraine in the Euro's. This result is as good as that team could hope for, and if anyone thought 5-0 against Pushova was the shape of things to come they need there head testing.

Roy Keane is bitter, unless he is talking about ManUre then he just slates teams.

That said I'm not surprised England drew, the national team haven't played good football since 1996 imo.

I suppose he's right in a way. England are just not that good. The media's expectation makes the public think we're something we're not. Joe Hart and Ashley Cole aside, I don't see any other world class English player at the current moment.

Who ever made England 3rd best in the rankings probably thought Titus Bramble should be a contender for the Ballon D'or.

Agree on that, BBC reports England dominated the game for 75 minutes and quoted woy as saying they were very unlucky.

No bees to blind the officials at a crucial time in this game then

    It's crazy BBF.

I haven't read any of the reviews on the game but if the BBC have said we dominated for 75 minutes then I really must have watched another game. Admittedly the ref had a shocking performance which didn't help as some of Ukraine's players were diving ridiculously but that said, they had some really good chances to put the game to bed. 1-1 was a fair, if not lucky result for England.

i wouldn't say england dominated but i think they were the better side and had the better chances. Defoe's goal would have probably stood 7 out of 10 times. Cleverly/Defoe missed a sitter. Cleverly missed a decent chance. Cleverly hit the bar. Welbeck hit the post etc etc.

Its incredible anyone has seen it that way, apart from all our own eyes, the match facts speak for themselves...

Equal possession, half the goal attempts from each side were on target, equal corners...we beat them at fouling apparently! <laugh>

Are you saying its amazing i've seen it the way i saw it or that anyone could see it as England domination? Confused!
I still maintain that the chances that England had were the better chances even if the stats say everything was equal.

I don't think anyone "made" England 3rd best - it is the result of ranking system points for results against other teams depending on their rank in World football and England have a lot of wins - albeit not in the games that count

Gotcha. Thats what i would have guessed but thought i'd check. I agree, dominating 75 mins was pushing it quite a lot

I think teams like Ukraine are more our level tbh. We aren't top 3, we're not even top 10, regardless of what the rankings say. I'd be surprised if Ukraine are lower than 20th so i was expecting a tough, close game and i'm not surprised England didn't win, but they should have with the chances created.

One day the English media will get their heads around the fact that they know how to play football in Eastern Europe, and stop referring to them as "only" [insert nation here].

Croatia, Russia, Ukraine and Serbia are good teams (albeit Russia and Serbia do regularly self-destruct), whilst Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Slovenia are certainly better than a lot of European teams (for example: Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Northern Ireland)

Better quality look at the Bale goal.
    Starts at about 3.20.

Are we cursed on set-pieces or something?

Pretty much agree with that, all I'd say is chances were imo pretty even too. Personally chances that hit the post as against go sailing over the bar are still a chance, I don't really see the point in grading misses, its the passage of play that presented the chance I count. <ok>

That was more of a joke than a serious statement but hey-ho.

    <laugh> Woop woop!

Stats aside, I actually think Ukraine were better based on the general flow of the game, I know Cleverley fluffed some ridiculously easy chances but whenever Ukraine broke forward, they just seemed more intent if that's the word to the find the back of the net.
