I enjoy it. It's a nice tradition that we have and gives plenty of local people the chance to compete in a televised live sporting event. It usually raises a **** load of dosh for local charities, too.

Just turn the TV off that day then you miserable sod.

I doubt anybody gives a ****e about the race name. They probably should call it the Newcastle Run because of the new route, not even sure what the issue would be with that tbh.

Is that not logical given that’s where the route goes?

They weren’t likely to mention Seaburn and Roker on it.

Any idea why they've changed the route this year?

But the best part of any race is the finish - and it’s at Bonny Shields!

Think they are blaming COVID and to keep crowds down to minimum areas

    Oh aye, just googled it.
    Not permanent though apparently.
    Hopefully.

Can't wait to get up in a couple of months, Coleman's fish n chips first day and a curry in Ocean road the second :D

Didn't it get a new owner a few years back ?

Fookin council, it was a good chippy not like that tale of the whale spunk frozen shìte.

Have to get to Coleman’s on every visit home, and a couple of trips to Ocean Road. Indian food has got better in North Carolina but not up to Shields standards.

Think it’s down to the length of time with the staggered start (what I’ve heard from my running club anyhow)

I’ll still be there in my running club colours (purple and green) keep an eye out for me Number 14047) with my name Marc on the back of my running vest

I read yesterday it was because of covid and to keep it in a more condensed area ffs.
Well it's pretty condensed in Newcastle, they're thick as whale spunk :D
