An article has just been posted on the LFC facebook asking who is the best foreign player to represent Liverpool in the Premier league era. So I thought id bring the question over here. I am going to say Sami Hyypia. He had a great LFC career, winning major trophies and having many heroic nights. He always gave his all for LFC, he defended solidly, scored goal and was a great leader. Plus he was a bargain.
1.xabi alonso 2.hyypia 3.reina these stand out as they poured (pouring in reinas case) their hearts out for lfc week in week out. truly are lfc legends.
I'm going to have to agree with you; I can't think of another player who put in quite the work Hyypia did! He must have been one of the best CBs in the league.
You really are a bitter lot arent you! Torres is clearly the best foreign player you've ever had. Dont hate him just because he wanted to play for a bigger team and play in the Champions league.
Look mate; you obviously have something major against Liverpool. It may be because you're a Norwich fan and haven't really had any sort of success, or perhaps you're family are Man United glory supporters. Either way, give it up - because really, nobody cares about what you think.
He's one of them, but my vote would still go to big Sami I'm afraid. Absolute beast of a central defender. Torres was class for 2 seasons but then disappeared for 18 months? Sami was a class act all throughout his career, consistency!
Norwich? Well there is a connection there. They are funding Norwich with the amount of Norwich scarves they are buying for the ''Green and Vomit'' protest. Back to the topic in hand. My opinion is that Liverpools best overseas player without question is Sami Hyypia in the prem era.Overall it has to be Jan Molby,Brucie and Craig Johnston,or back further,Gordon Hodgson,a goal-machine from South Africa.
You haven't actually answered why you are all conveniently forgetting that Torres ever played for you apart from King Kenny.
First 2 seasons he was the best striker around; and would have been in the top 5 strikers of the Premier league, but then he just lost all interest after Alonso left, I think there wasn't enough Spanish speakers around for him and he really did drag the morale of the team down. You must have read the interview with Gerrard in January saying the mood had lifted now El Sulko was gone. So whilst he obviously had pure footballing skill, his attitude let him down dramatically.
Ze Liverbird. Thats true,we'll never forget his footballing ability,However we will not forget his disgraceful atitude for 18 months either.
must be BISCAN ! seriously ... Hyypia , Alosno and Reina recently. Molby, Brucie and Craig Johnston from our past.
Norwich people have 7 fingers and 8 thumbs. The title was Great, not most gifted but if you've got the fingers to count to 15 I doubt you understand the difference between talented and grrrreat. Sami without a shadow of a doubt..
