Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell have joined up with the full England team for Tuesdays game at the King Power

So we have 3 Leicester players in the squad. Shame Vardy didnt carry on for this game but still have Slab head along with Gray and Chilwell now

If Maddison carries on his form his call up wont be far away

Is ridiculous that Albrighton hasn't been called up as well.

You shouldn't be - he has been doing really well in the under 21s, has a lot of Premier League minutes and as the next game is a proper friendly and is at the KP, can see both him and Chillwell have around 10 odd min to run around.

I wonder if slow ticket sales has got something to do with Chilwell and Gray being called up!

I don’t get this assumption that it’s for ticket sales. They have been the best two performers for the u21’s for a while. I think Chilwell was hard done to to not be called up originally as he has started the season brightly but got overlooked for bench warmer Danny Rose. With Shaw’s injury it’s the logical change.
Gray I’m not sure as I’m not aware of an injury opening up a space for him.

Would be more about it being too late to call up anyone who isn't already on international duty plus Southgate knows both of them.

Sterling and Lallana dropper out injured before the Spain match and Dele Alli has just dropped out

4 good games doesnt warrant a call up. With Shaw getting injured and Southgate wanting youth I get the Chilwell promotion from the under 21’s as he was motm the other day

Gray doesnt deserve a call up imo. Nowhere near consistent enough

Stop being so miserable - I know that you were never Gray's biggest fan but he has done enough in the eyes of the man that matters to warrant a call up.

Will he get called up ahead of those other players? I highly doubt it atm but this might inspire him to work hard to do so.

Hopefully he will come on and get cheered and ignore people putting him down as he is still a kid at the beginning of his career.

And also it means they're not doing any travelling with the U21's so back to us fresh.

Chilwell and Gray have both started the season relatively well and a first call up gives them both a pat on the back, but I think the fact England are playing at their home ground is quite convenient too. Shouldn’t let it diminish their achievements though.

I also said Chilwell more understandably but given the attacking players who are injured (that I wasn’t aware of) it does make sense as he’s the star from the u21’s

I think Chilwell and Gray would be a good fit for England could give us some good attacking options.

However if Maddison continues to develop he will be a great asset to England but has the U21 manager to convince as he is saying he is not ready for the move up yet.

Tbh I dont think Chiwell, Gray or Maddison are ready for England

Chilwell and Gray lack consistency and Maddison has only played 4 games in the Prem

Looks like Chilwell got man of the match on his first start for England! I only watched the first half as it as ****e but he was getting forward well and was a main attacking outlet as well as solid at the back. Really pleased for him and having our left half of our defence out there last night and keeping a clean sheet with some of the quality Croatia have really highlights that it’s the other side of our defence letting us down...

Shame Maddison didn’t play, he’ll get his chance
