The board have now made the decision to sack ML, I don't agree with it but I understand it, what I have grave concerns about is the appointment of Garry Monk as head coach. I see a parallel here with the Nick Cussack scenario of ten years ago. Having a love for the club and a big heart quite frankly is not enough as we saw during Nicks tenure. Monk has no experience whatsoever and will be in charge of top quality players, will he have their respect something he will definitely need, I'm not so sure. In my opinion we should have brought in a completely new face with an experience of managing top a football side, the danger with the Monk appointment is that he is part of the problem (spat with Chico for example) we may well be just opening up another can of worms. You know what they say a new broom always sweeps clean. Wrong appointment for me frought with more problems.

Yes probably a knee jerk reaction from the club , were they expected Laudrup to go now .? Cussack was hung out to dry and if this tactic falls down the same will happen to Monk . A rallying cry for the troops is what the club want right now which they may get for Saturday but can he sustain a positive reaction from the players (if he gets one) or will the camp be split over his appointment .Bold move by the club but watch this space ,it could be the nail in the coffin regarding our PL status .

we had concerns about martinez and we were wrong....Who better than monk. he knows the club inside out and will try and fix the mess that laudrup has left behind....good thinking that by jinx and the board as it increases our chances of survival that a stranger to the club would have less chance of doing...

This the same Jenkins that you wanted out for years?!?
You know, the one you gave the forum nickname "Jinx" too...(still used a lot to this day, most get the irony though).

A stranger like your fav (who you wanted out before he'd managed even 1 game) Brendan Rodgers....to the back of remedial class Dai.

Hang on. They haven't sacked Michael Laudrup and replaced him with Garry Monk. They've put Garry Monk in charge until a replacement is found. Just about every other club in our situation has dome something similar. Plonk a coach in until the replacement has been secured and installed.

Step away from the Panic Button.

Now Terror, I'm asking nicely. I haven't seen any of Dai's posts over this messy period because I have him on ignore. What you've done there is exposed me to it by quoting it. Please think of the masses of us who have him on ignore when you do this because it hurts. I thank you.

We're not under the same circumstances other we're not quite at the bottom of the league as we where then but the sentiment has a very familiar feel about it .

"I'm extremely pleased that the management committee has got faith in me and that they have handed me the opportunity to take charge on a long-term basis," Cusack told the club's official website.

"I know that some people might suggest that I'm too close to the players, but have no doubt about it, I've taken this job because I feel that I can make a go of it, and I certainly won't be afraid of making tough decisions.

I'll be putting my stamp on things here

"The players now know exactly where they stand, because they know that I'm going to be here next season.

"I'll be putting my stamp on things here, letting them know exactly what I expect from them.

"Now, nothing would give me more pleasure than to celebrate by bringing three points back from Hartlepool tomorrow.

They didn't have a choice. Laudrup was sacked so someone had to step in until a new manager is found. Monk is better than no manager at all. Hoddle and others in the frame. Don't stress.

    Laudrup remaining was the choice.
