'Up and coming manager' is a nonsense fallacy. Very few actually climb up the leagues and become the next Eddie Howe. But it's one of those cool things. Everyone turns their nose up at an older manager because they're all dinosaurs and have been deemed a failure in at least one job, even if their record overall is actually very good.
