Grant Holt has just handed in a transfer request at Norwich, though, wisely, they've rejected it. Surprising, seems as he's their captain I do believe, and I've read that recently he was voted their player of the year for 3 years running, would have thought he would show a bit of loyalty. If, God forbid, we didn't have Lambert, I'd call for us to sign this guy up. However, it would seem a bit pointless having 2 strikers who play such similar football, as the big target man up top, at the club.
Maybe the England talk has gone to his head and he now sees himself playing at a higher level...that's my only guess.
How horrible and disloyal of him to turn his back on the club which gave him his break. I dont know who will come in form him but it wont be a top 4 club so really wont be much of a progression for him. And if he wants to leave Norwhich why on earth would he come to us??
Speculation suggests its Everton, he apparently spends a lot of time on the road due to family based up that way Or Paul Lambert is leaving & he wants to follow. Either way, stand firm Norwich, you are owed a price if he thinks he too big.
We don't know what goes on behind the scenes or in his personal life. There could be a number of decent reasons for him to want out.
Um because it's a bit of a shock let's be honest. I can't quite get my head round it after the last GREAT few years he's had at Norwich. How would you feel if Lambert woke up one day and did the same? I wouldn't know what to say. Angry/upset/shocked and many more emotions. It's big news whoever you support.
What a nobber, a bit of trash tabloid talk has gone to his head. He's not a patch on Lambert and j wouldn't want him even if Lambo left; to me he's just a one season wonder, a bit like Michael Rickets was
It's his agent putting pressure on him. He has probably been told that if he had been at a bigger/ higher profile club he would have made the England squad siting Andy Carroll as the example. At 31 he probably won't make it into an England squad but could get into Europe with a bigger club. I don't think its disloyal wanting to try and make the most of his career IF a bigger club has came in for him and can offer European football. I would guess that someone has been in for him or tapped him up at least. Why rock the boat at this stage of the close season if something isn't already in place? The only thing I don't like is that by him putting the request in, his price has probably gone down as clubs know he wants away. If a player is settled at a club it will cost more to get them than if a player wants away and isn't playing at his best.
What a complete and utter ungrateful twat Although, he might know that Lambert is on his way and wants to follow suit?
Yeah I'd be shocked, but Holt isn't our player, and besides, none of us know the reasons. Why does everyone rush to stick the boot in? It's ok to reserve judgement until you know anything about it you know.
No word of judgement in what I said, just surprise and feel it's worth bringing attention to it. Time will tell the real reasons, I would like to believe it wasn't due to outrageous personal demands at least as I think he's better than that.
He must have been approached by someone to hand in the request. A rumour about Everton and I also heard a possibility that Manchester United maybe interested in bringing in a target man type player. Lorente is probabley the best target man in the world right now, but would United spend the type of money required for him.
