From today's Daily Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ambert-way-Aston-Villa-Grant-Holt-follow.html 'Paul Lambert has quit Norwich City and is expected to be confirmed as Aston Villaâs new manager in the next 24 hours. And that may not be the end of the bad news for the Norfolk club as top scorer Grant Holt is expected to follow him to Villa Park later this month. Lambert will make the striker his No 1 priority when he turns up at Villa Park next week, utilising cash that was ring-fenced by American owner Randy Lerner for squad strengthening this summer.' Hope he doesn't take too many of our up and coming players with him. I see on the BBC Football Gossip that Rodgers wants to take several Swans players to Anfield. I still believe PL is making a mistake. OK, he wants to leave Norwich, but to be 3rd choice at Villa!!!!
McNally has made it quite clear on the clubs stance over players. No first team players are for sale! Though if a tempting enough offer was made we may accept it.
Are you sure that's the case? Maybe they hacked Lambert's voicemail (seriously big joke, no court case reqd thank you!)
and if he signs either Fox or Whitbread McNally should sue Lambert for mis representing Norwich while in post.... Mcnally get Fox to sign now got to be worth it even if the new manager wants to sell him
If anybody wants to leave then they should go. I couldn't be bothered with anyone who starts bleating. I remember Bruce bleating when his move to Manure took longer than he wanted because we were holding out for a better deal. If, and it is if, Holt wants to follow Lambert then that it is fine. Good luck to him. If you think you're good enough then fine. The grass is always greener. But moving to a new club isn't always easy. I think Rodgers will find, like AVB, that players egos are a big obstruction to establishing yourself. Assembling a squad in lower divisions and then adding to it as you progress is fine but instant results will be required the higher up the ladder you go. Don't score for a few games at a bigger club and then crowd start calling for your head and calling you a waste of money. Despite our new ambitions, we will accept 17th next season. Villa will look for dramatic improvement.
err, i don't think you can do that, but fox will go to villa, no question. i think whitbread is already sorted out pretty much elsewhere and wanted too much money here to stay so would have left anyway. doubt anyone else will follow, at least not just yet.
To true cant believe Mr Lambert is going to Villa after he witnessed what they did to Mr Mcliesh at Carrow Road, obviously thinks he wont fail to turn things around, oh well good luck there they were the worst team to come here last year so best you get started now or those shoes will be waving at you Mr Lambert!
I was supprised Zak was released as he and Ayala were are best two at the time....we do indeed need to renew some contracts especially Fox
i still maintain that lambert thought he might get the liverpool job. he's ended up with sloppy thirds at villa. i reckon he was very frustrated that rodgers got the gig because lambert is the better manager. maybe thats why he feels he'll have a better chance of getting noticed at villa (which to be fair he probably will)
Grant holt won't follow Lambert anyway, they had a "massive bust up" that led to him putting in the transfer request lol
Grant Holt has two years left on his contract. He will only leave if the club says he can. Only way anyone will get him is by paying an obscene amount for a 30 year old. And to be honest, I suspect this is made up anyway, I'm sure Lambert would rather have a handful of Norwich players more than Holt.
If Lambert is really that keen to have Grant Holt, this is excellent for us: 1) I cannot see another club paying McNally's asking price, and it will decrease as Holt gets older, playing in the reserves. 2) I always have believed that Holt's success can largely be attributed to Hoolahan, and largely this season, to Pilkington, Bennett, etc. Rest assured, he (Hoolahan) will not be following. 3) He has had a phenomenal season, scoring 15 goals again will be extremely tough, especially as he won't have us fans cheering him as a hero, but instead new fans who won't be sympathetic should he go on a barren spell. 4) If Holt is Lambert's No.1 signing, we may be able to eek £8m from Villa, this would be a good return for our club, considering for 400k, we have received 60 goals and 7.6m profit. Great investment --- IMO it is in the best interest of the club to sever ties with these 2 rebels, and replace them asap. Hughton and Rhodes, I firmly see as an ideal solution.
strange post. i think you begin by undervaluing holt and then end it by asking for £8m! he's a great player and will be a good signing for pretty much every club outside the top 6 or 7, wouldn't cost the earth but guarantee goals and commitment. i say £5m and he can go wherever he pleases
