It's fair to say he hasn't had the greatest of starts to the season (he didn't last year either) and his game hasn't gelled well into this league. He's lost his place because lambert has found a formula that works at the moment and thats absolutely fine, it shows the rest of the team that everyone has a chance to get into this team if they prove themselves and shows resolute, uncompromising management. Frankly, we'd expect no less from Lambert. A lot of people seem perplexed that Martin was brought on yesterday instead of holt. I believe it was a great tactical decision all round. 1) chrissy gets a chance against Manchester united, gives him a taste of what he can have if he puts the effort in 2) makes holt hungry and determined to succeed. I believe that holt is going back to the drawing board and adding to his skillbase to be able to really compete in this league. Morrison looks pretty good at the moment but does sometimes appear isolated. I believe holt will be back in the not too distant future with an upped workrate and attitude that will lift the team and give us, crucially, what we've been lacking. Unadulterated poachability and chance taking. Because I don't think I've seen anyone in green and yellow that takes a chance like holt. Unfortunately, I can see a member of midfield losing a spot, which is unjustifiable at the moment. They are all awesome. In short, relax, the big man will be back soon and ready to kick more arse than he's ever done before.
To be fair to him, GH just doesn't have the pace that Morison does, so when you're trying to break down / get behind world class defenders, pace is a requirement rather than a luxury. Most neutral reports I've read have singled out Morison's tireless running and workrate as one of the highlights of a spirited and impressive City performance If Holt can generate an extra yard of pace, Morison and C. Martin will have to be on top of their game to keep him out - nice headaches for Lambert to have, if they all start to 'hit their straps'.
The Holt situation is very similar to when we went up last time, Worthigton let our Talisman and captain go and we lost our heartbeat.... Holt is a better player than Roberts in my opinion and still has a few years in him, but the fact of the matter is we bought Morison for the future and he is doing a good job now, we can t really afford to use two strikers and Wessi, so that leaves Holt on the bench for now.... Holty was slow last season getting started and a few of us were grumbling about whether he could cut it in the Champs and but he proved all the doubters wrong. If he does it again at this level it really will be a fairy tale season..
Couldn't agree more,it's far too early to make a judgement.I agree that Holt has looked a tad slow but then again he is a tad portly too.Maybe could do with a few less pies and ales.A stone off him would restore the pace and he is brilliant at holding the ball up,the Roberts comparison is a good one.
I'm not convinced by Morison at all, I think he misses too many chances. I would of gone for Vaughan but think the big man needs to get back in somewhere, as he can finish.
