we should have learnt after Clarke Carlisle. Clarke was one of my favourite players - signed at the same time as Darren Peacock and I remember going to the old Baseball Ground when they made their debuts thinking that we had potentially a very good centre half pairing. Game I think finished 1 all. I hope Grant gets the help and support from the club. He isn't just an asset - he is a human being. There are too many times when someone needs help and support and they do not receive it - I am glad he has asked for it - it shows courage and guts - I would hate to read about this on the RIP thread - especially when this appears that we as a club can help.
Mental health/depression issues must be just as prevalent among footballers as in the rest of the population, at least 10% of the population with depression or anxiety at some stage. Good that Grant recognised that he needed help and is getting it.
The Black Dog is a horrible thing. People get less sympathy when surrounded by the trappings of wealth but the black dog is no respector of wealth, gender, culture or creed. Wish him well.
Here's hoping all is OK now. He made the first step by talking to people, which believe me is not easy. Good luck Grant for the future.
