Despite rumours recently, I have just seen an interview with him on SSN where he "assures the fans he will be here" for the foreseeable future. Great news - even though I never believed the recent stories. Sky put some stats up of Granero: Played - 9 Scored - 1 Passes - 465 Pass Success - 82% Tackles - 22 Tackle Success - 91%
Was just about to post this....Good to hear.... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/8246475
I was trying to work out whether he was being honest or not. I think he was but one can never quite tell. It's probably in their contracts that we Sky comes calling, you have to play nice.
Mmm....I am beginning to realise that I may be the only one (along with my lad) who isn't totally convinced about Granero. I realise he's technically very good etc but I'm yet to be convinced that he's as good as most on here seem to think he is. Now retreating slowly and donning my hard-hat!!
22 tackles in 9 games does not sound much especially given the pressure theyve been under most weeks thats about 1 tackle every 35 minutes
That's fair enough Col, I don't think he can be hailed as the real deal until he is consistently changing the course of games and running the show. He is of course dependent on those playing around him to some extent, but I really do believe he has the potential to do this. But what I really love is his attitude on the pitch - this bloke cares - and his intelligence and quirkiness off the pitch - he's not from the professional footballers' factory.
Best player to wear a QPR shirt for a long time. Turned up in a new country, new league and delivered in every game. Wish the rest of our team could do that..! Still hope he stays as quite simply he's too good for us !
He says the same thing on the offish today. When I've heard him interviewed, he comes across as very genuine and very intelligent: definitely not one from the "footballer factory". Plus, I think his QPR career has got off to a flying start and he could turn out to be a great player for us over many years. I certainly hope so.
A little bit surprised with that comment from you Col, I'm not speaking with bias as I live in Madrid (I actually like Betis as my Spanish team....long story). Anyway one thing is for sure is that QPR's profile has certainly been raised in this city just a pity when you answer cab drivers and colleagues you do your best to say that we will win soon and get on up the table. Granero is worshipped over here still not only for his talent but his character, personality and loyalty. He is the real deal and I only hope he gets the chance to show you, and as someone has already mentioned he is by far the best technical player we have signed for a long time. If only Adel could model his attitude on Granero's if he did he would be truly fantastic. There is no 'I' in team so sadly Granero cannot do it all himself!. Anyway two days to go to see the boys win their first game, I'm all positive again! LOL
Just speaking as I find mate. Have only seen him since he signed and so I can only base my opinions on what I've seen. Hopefully, as the season goes on I will become more and more impressed.
