Morning Assembly looks particularly well weighted carrying just 10st 9 but as I think mentioned in the daily thread HOLYWELL is going blue crazy on oddschecker who has 10st 12lb 1lb lower than his handicap!
Sir Des Champs on the snaff. Rule The World beautifully weighted too- he's been doing some solid work and was he 2nd in an Irish National?

The handicapper has really thrown down the gauntlet to the Waley-Cohen's. LONG RUN thrown in if he is anywhere near the force of old. Only one horse in it for me of course and that's LE REVE. I might have a saver on GOONYELLA.
I was liking Golden Chieftain for this but off 9-08 he will be 6lbs out of the handicap running off minimum weight and might not even get in. He was running a cracker the other day in that slogathon at Exeter that stick referred to (fell 3 out and that King horse won by staggering legless over the line).
One thing about Le Reve...any chance he prefers a right handed track? Just something I thought of with him maybe. I may be wrong, I may be right... Unioniste and Katenko take the eye for me thus far. Liable to change 50 times between now and the off though!
At present I like Katenko, Double Ross and Buywise. Buywise jumped out at me. I remember Rhyme & Reason; worst jumper in the field and won. These fences are much more forgiving than they used to be.
Long Run surely well on the downgrade these days and never jumped well enough. Goonyella is a smashing chaser and stays all day, but hard to see him winning. Place money for me. I'd love Russe Blanc in this but can he really get in from 91?
Just a thought Ron, with the push for safer racing, have fences right across the board been made easier to get over? Is the usual fence easier today than it was 20-30 years ago? If so then it stands to reason that horses today can't be as proficient at jumping as those who had to do the job over stiffer fences in the past. Following on, even if the obstacles at Aintree have been made more accommodating, the lesser abilities needed by modern animals plays against them when it comes to the Grand National, even if the jumps are not as stiff. Step down the need be more accomplished, wash a couple of percent of danger from those mongrel jumps at Aintree, and you're still going to be left with carnage. As mentioned above, just a thought.
Weather and ground are massive, if it's spring ground then it's those at the top of handicap for me. SC stands out a mile in handicap to me.
Two that jump out at me are portrait King who if I remember rightly fell about four out last year but was looking like the winner for me and Woodford county off of feather weights if they get in.
They will be running in the Betfred or the Eider to try to get another win and thus boost him up the weights with a penalty!
Couldn’t agree more re Long Run. Also really like Hadrian’s Approach. No way should he be a 66/1 shot. Very big price, as I’ve said before, for a horse who has twice been placed at Grade 1 level, over fences, and also won what was the old Whitbread.
Last year's first and second would have good claims again. Carberry gave Cause of Causes a very patient ride (even for the master of the quiet ride) last year right out the back before making his way into 8th still a fair way off the winner. He was only a 7 year old then and that may well have been a reccy. He'll sneak in at the bottom of the weights too, if he gets in.
