Alright lads, I haven't got a clue about Horse racing, but I like to have my yearly punt on the National. Has any of you keen racing fans got any Tips??

    Thank you in advance.

I always go for the good jumpers as you know if it gets round then theres a chance its going to get placed.

Teaforthree is who I'm on as it's a fantastic jumper and has bags of stamina.

Sea Bass may well go off as favourite but has a female amateur jockey.
The horse is certainly good enough but is the rider?

I would hedge my bets & pick out a random four or so. The Nash is a lottery anyway.

Horse to run in Sunderland colours at Grand National
    Published: 05 April 2013

    Forpadydeplasterer and Barry Geraghty
MEET the 66/1 shot who will carry the famous red and white of Sunderland in tomorrow’s Grand National.

His name might not roll off the tongue, but that will not bother Wearside punters if Forpadydeplasterer can land the biggest prize in National Hunt.

Trained in Tralee, Ireland, the 11-year-old is owned by the Goat Racing Syndicate, headed by former part-owner of SAFC Charlie Chawke.

The 20-strong group have become famous for their colourful following of their horse, with all of them donning a red and white Sunderland scarf whenever their charge takes to the track.

Charlie is hopeful of a big performance from Forpadydeplasterer, and urged punters to have a flutter on his superstar.

“We were owners of Sunderland at the time we bought him, so that’s why he runs in the red and white,” said Charlie, who owns a chain of pubs in Dublin.

“We had three or four very happy years over there. We were very happy and we had a great time.”

Forpadydeplasterer’s best day came when he won the prestigious Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2009, in red and white. “We’ll be proud to see him run around Aintree in those colours,” said Charlie. “Getting him back safe is the main thing, but if he won it would be great.

“He’s never fallen and the fact he’s such a good jumper means he should be okay. You need a bit of luck as well. It looks like Sunderland haven’t got a lot of luck at the moment, but everyone should have 50p each-way on him for old time’s sake.”

"On his Own" £50 e/w 10/1 Was going well till it tripped last year, will probably end up favourite.

And a £10 e/w on "Soll" 40/1 is one I fancy to place.

    £5 e/w "ForPadyDePlasterer" 66/1 for obvious reasons.

Balthazar King is what I'm betting on.

My general rule for the national is to not back any horse carrying over 11 stone (hasn't worked for the last few years but worked something like 16 out of 18 times before this!)

Still a total lottery to be honest

The GN used to be like the FA Cup for me. It was the whole days entertainment. Never bothered with it for a couple of years but looking forward to it tomorrow and gonna pick 2-3 to put a few quid on.

I think fergie owns a horse in the national doesn't he?. And 'on his own' for the grand national 8-1 or Colbert station 11/1.
And I remember when the Grand national, FA Cup semi finals and the Eurovision song contest were all on the same day! Dr who and Starsky and Hutch later! on Saturday night. Great days those were.
