I haven’t seen anything about his appointment as Chelsea manager amongst all the far more important issues going on at the minute, so apologies if this is repeated.

I hope this is the start of managers being given top jobs on merit instead of the same group of failures making millions through getting sacked and jumping straight back on the manager merry go round. There’s loads of good young aspiring coaches out there. Let’s hope his appointment has a knock on effect for the rest of them

It has been mentioned but its worth a discussion. He is a class coach who has Brighton playing some of the best football in the league imo, great to watch. I hope he gets a bit of time to sort them out. Chelsea aren't exactly famous for giving their coaches time but I hope he does well as I like him (and I don't particularly like Chelsea <laugh>).

Looks like Liverpool could be on the slide so someone will need to challenge City.

Lallana doesn't convince me at all as a replacement, temporary or otherwise.

He's had Brighton performing excellently. I'm intrigued to know if English/top players buy into his methods in the same way that those at Ostersunds did or if he's adapted since he came back to England.

Good manager, benefitted from good setup at Brighton, no doubt why Saudis poached the DOF. He may not have such a patient setup at Chelsea. Doubt he's better than several they have sacked already.

Would be a decent move for Rogers, I think his time is up. Not sure on who Leicester would go for though, Potch would be expensive

I am delighted for Potter. At last a coach getting a top job because he has done a great job lower down. A 5 year deal is good as well, maybe the new Chelsea owners are going for a more long term approach to coaches.

I think he will do a good job personally. His Brighton team are very easy on the eye. (Steve Cooper supposedly on the radar for them). I think the Chelsea squad will enjoy working with him, he is supposedly a very bright coach with sessions that are both intense and fun to be a part of. People sometimes say players wont take to a coach if they havent achieved big things. That may be true, but only in a small number if cases I think. In my experience players judge a coach based on training and matchdays. Walk in and make your first session top class, intense and fun, with some very clear explanations, they will leave impressed. Be clear and business like on matchdays and same again. I think he will be fine and he has a squad not far off challenging.

The problem here is that the supporters are now used to a quick turnover of managers. It becomes an addiction, as we found out ourselves. Lose a couple of games, gerrim out, then start getting at the next one.

I really hope they show some patience.

Lots of respect for Potter, especially as he has developed his career in a different pathway to others (thinking particularly about his stint in Scandinavia).

Credit to Brighton too for taking what some people would have regarded as a gamble. They've shown that you don't need to be a big name to manage at the highest level and will be a very attractive proposition for aspiring managers now.

According to reports, that you lad Gilmour moved from Chelsea to Brighton in part because he wanted to work under Potter.

If he does a half decent job, no reason he shouldn't with the resources available, surely nailed on for the england job next time it comes up.

The England job is most likely going to be available at the start of 2023. He won't want it at this point. I doubt Eddie Howe will either. The 2 most obvious English managers will have better club jobs. Steve Cooper would probably be next on the list (well thought of for his U17 world cup win), but he may have just taken a new job himself at Brighton and not be willing to move on again so soon.

We might all be begging Southgate to stay so that Lampard/Gerrard don't get a mention.

You think GS will resign irrespective of performance at the world cup or you're not expecting England to get far?

I think he'll resign. It feels like a natural end if we win the competition, or we fall just short again. He's been manager for 6 and a half years and another 3 before that as U21 manager. I've just got a feeling that he will be ready to move on.
