http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter I wish LUFC would just pull their finger out and tie Gradel down for a decent period, then if we HAVE to sell we can command a better fee. This strategy just does not seem to make sense.
they probably got this from Gradel's sisters friends aunts hairdresser. Upon hearing said chinese whispers, they then proceeded to exagerate it to make it sound not boring, and then print it.
I doubt they'll have fabricated this and actually inserted made-up quotes to be honest. If you want to do a bullshit story, you just ramble vaguely about Gradel not getting an offer, you don't invent a conversation with him, that could get the paper in all sorts of trouble from Gradel and the PCC. Then again, the Revie match-fixing allegations were categorically shown to be fabricated so you can't really point to this slimy socialist bog-roll as a reliable paper.
he will leave on a free at the end of this seaosn....he just does not want to look bad as he has not signed one..... all the usual paper bull
You can't win with these stories. They can ask 'Has Gradel signed for Barcelona then?' When told 'no' by SG, they print a story around 'Leeds deny Barcelona link to Gradel' and pad it out with assorted guff. Job done.
Scenario - Gradel's agent goes to management and says "Max wants £25k, will you offer him a contract", management say "No", Gradel says "I have not been offered a new contract".
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....won_t_let_leeds_down_pledges_gradel_1_3640125 Todays YEP shows that Gradell is a bit upset by not having a new contract offered. He'll be gone on a free at the end of the season, so should be given a new deal now which will mean a higher transfer fee in the future. I guess he'll want more money than the club are willing to pay, so guess he'll be gone sooner or later
yes, because his dipshit agent will have convinced him he should accept no less than £25k. Agents are pure evil. Whatever Gradel gets he gets a bigger cut, and if he can persuade Gradel he's worth more than Leeds are willing to pay, he'll have set the ball rolling with regards to Gradel moving on, in which case he gets a big signing on fee. The agents are a set of ****s and ruin the game.
The YEP aren't quite as bad as speculating, but I guess the next few months will go something like this: 1. Bates will offer Gradel a miserly first offer which will be rejected. 2. Bates will offer a slightly improved offer, this time somewhere around Championship level. 3. Gradel will reject this. 4. Bates will make out that Gradel is being greedy and we won't be held to ransom and break our League 1 pay structure. 5. This then makes Gradel look the bad boy and Bates hope fans divert their frustrations on Gradel, away from him. 6. Gradel leaves on a free and we once again lose a quality player, or the chance to bank another stadium enhancing sum.
Marko I completley agree, agents cost football clubs a shed load of cash and agents are leaches sucking the lifeblood out of the game. Why can't the FA/FL ban all agents and have an agreement with the PFA, so that ex players look after the interests of current players. More employment at the PFA for ex players who are struggling and clubs agree fixed price for each deal done. PFA wins, players win as they don't pay 10% or whatever to an agent making them better off and the clubs win by not spending loads of cash to agents, and can have more money available for more deals .... Radical
Just to play devils advocate on this one, maybe it's a good idea to hold back on a new contract to make sure last seasons performances weren't a fluke. If Max is performing well again then offer the increased contract.
This interview was in YEP today as well. Gradel has definitely said he wasn't offered a new contract, however the article did go on to say that his agents had let Leeds know his wage demands and that a new deal would be hard to agree on. So the club have yet to offer him a new deal, because they know it will be very hard to agree.
