Leeds are due to receive 1.75m and Bates mentioned a wedge of 17.5% of the original fee going to Leicester and 5% going to the FL. That means the original fee was about 2.15m and Leicester will receive around 350k as the add-on fee. I have no reason to believe we had a similar clause with Beckford.
That will piss them off even more! If you look through the thread they are asking if teh Gradel cash will be invested in players!
Leeds-18, do you think that SG will be in trouble with Bates if you lose a few games? I love Grayson from when he was a Leicester legend and would hate to see him fired because Bates is is a moron.
On one hand, Bates has never been patient with managers and invariably tries to shift the blame onto them when things go wrong (conveniently forgetting that the buck always stops with the owner, not the manager). Then again, Grayson's a cheapskate who's reasonably content to trot out the party line and suck up to Bates in public, so maybe that's bought him some extra time. I don't think we'll be in the bottom 10 at Christmas, but if we fail to improve on last season's 7th placed finish come May, then yes, I think it will be Grayson who's sent packing.
That means we'll get over 0.5m for Gradel in total now, which at least is a bit closer to his value than the fee we got originally!
I really dont see how any blame can rest with SG here. He worked wonders to get you guys promoted on a shoe string budget and then fire you up to within touching distance of the play offs (much like our Nigel Pearson). Yet in order to get that final push into the promise land you need investment and instead of that all SG got was having his best players sold off. Furthermore all that money raised has not been given back. This is purely Bates' doing. You will find very feew maangers that could or would work with that arsehole. We were all shocked when NP was shipped out - he worked wonders!
Leeds lost Beckford last year, now Gradel and Schmeichel and havent replaced them with decent players Thats what you get with you **** of a chairman losing all his best players for peanuts
