At the start of the year, 7 year old Grace's parents started fund raising so that they could give their daughter an operation wich would improve her life. QPR FC arranged various activities including allowing Grace's parents to advertise on the club website. There were also bucket collections at the ground, and the OSC also helped with various causes. Grace had her operation over a week ago (10 days to be precise), an operation that took place in the UK as this is not available on the NHS. Grace has a form of Cerebral Palsy called Spastic Diplegia, and was wearing legsplints to help her balance. Now this is the VERY GOOD NEWS BIT - I hae copied this from an email Grace's mother sent me She has achieved the following so far:- ⢠No knee locking. ⢠Her posture is greatly improved. ⢠She is now able to stand unaided for around 2 mins and if she does wobble she is able to correct herself. She does not sway side to side as she used to. ⢠She can now get up to standing from a seated position just using her legs and tummy muscles, does not need to hold onto anything at all. ⢠She can now walk not holding our hands, still finds it difficult but is increasing her pace and the number of steps taken each day. ⢠Her feet are mainly flat on the floor and her right foot no longer turns out, it is flat on the ground and she is not walking on the outside edge of it. ⢠Her confidence is growing and we are encouraging her as much as possible, we know to well and realise that some of the issues we are having with her mobility since the SDR op is not the case that she can't physically do it, she can, it is her lack of confidence that is holding her back. I will keep you all posted on further updates................
I am delighted to hear of Grace's excellent progress; it puts all our other worries about the club into context. Many thanks.
Glad to hear of such good news, delighted for her and her family. Here's to her Fantastic to put things into perspective. The mobility and quality of life of Grace Murphy is much more important than who QPR sign or don't sign in the next week.
