Sunderland have agreed a deal with Bournemouth to sign striker Lewis Grabban on-loan for the season, TEAMtalkcan reveal. Grabban signed for Bournemouth in January 2016 for a fee believed to be £7 million, but scored just one goal for the Premier League side. Grabban went on loan to Reading last season where he scored 3 goals in 16 games A host of Championship clubs have made approaches including Hull City, but Sunderland look to have sealed a deal TEAMtalk understands Grabban is due on Wearside on Wednesday for talks and a positive outcome could see the Black Cats secure his signature this week, with the player expected to replace the goals of Jermain Defoe, who moved in the opposite direction earlier this summer.
Bit underwhelming but if it happens that's another addition in. Still think we need another striker in tho.
He only started 7 of those games. Don't know a huge deal about him but he cost Bournemouth £7m few years back so must have something about him. As I said, one of those signings like you guys made last year where you just shrug your shoulders and kind of say you're fine with it.
To be fair he got 3 assists as well. Being directly involved in 6 goals in 16 games of which only starting 7 isn't bad at all. Minutes wise he only played 9 full games.
Too right Bri, hope this comes off, he's a very good player at this level. McGeady, Vaughan, Grabben and maybe McCormack. Glass is half full
Add Watmore and potentially Khazri and Lens. I dont think we need to worry anymore for goals next season.
Could i ask fella, what's the crack with you? Do you follow both SAFC and NUFC together or something? Noticed a lot of pro nufc stuff from you recently. Just curious, it's ok to follow both, it's just something that dying out and don't come across it often these days.
If we keep Khazri and Lens I am not worried about any more strikers, they will provide the crosses/passes for Graban etc, might have to win a lot of games 3-2 or 4-3 though !. We need defenders to get forward more next season, we have nowt to fear in the championship.
Ah I was meant to say that if he'd started very few then it won't look so bad. Fair play, I'd imagine he'd be a squad player though?
Just fishing over there Bri, I work with a few and can tell they are gutted at the mediocrity they are signing. I've worked through there on and off since 81 and must admit I have a lot of friends who are Black and White. Majority are no different to us, just mad passionate about their team. There's bad on both sides mate. Don't mind the Boro either, I'd like all the North East teams to be in the Premier, SAFC to be doing the best of course.
This Elphick from Villa could be good, Eddie Howes Captain in their Promotion season. Get him in and move Kone and Papy on.
I do wish we could move Bod on. He should be worth a couple of mil and we could get someone more reliable in.
Probably on decent wages too I think we paid quite a bit for him. He's one of them that would make bad mistakes at literally any level, I can see him getting megged and pushed over on a primary school playground.
We haven't got anybody to put the ball in the net on a regular basis yet. I'm hoping Grabban and Vaughan will be fighting it out to partner our main goalscorer upfront. If these two are our main strike force, I'm worried.
