Outclassed for vast majority of game all over the park. Barring the woodwork twice and a few other bits of luck the Spuds would have been out of site, well as a reality check it shows where we're not. Is it me or does Rodwell look not up to it?, slow, goes missing, I'm only going by what the TV shows, how does he look live?
We were playing one of the top sides in the country. Rodwell is still by his own admission a way off full match fitness, and he covered some ground yesterday chasing the ball. Getting points without playing well is a massive positive. No reality check at all, we all know for certain Spurs are a better side than us, tell me, what were you expecting? We have some of the most negative, can't wait to find a reason to whinge supporters on the planet, I swear it, constantly picking holes in everything. Well, if you can call it support. I'm not a happy clapper, as my 6 years including BBC606 will testify, but ****ing hell man, think about it.
Not a good performance but a good point.in previous seasons we would have got nowt.we are moving on and I am pretty happy at this stage.
TV shows bits. Rodwell never stopped... In a game against the best footballing side I've seen for a long time... 4 goals were scored yesterday and all involved some fair slices of luck. Adebayor shoots and the rebound falls perfectly... Johnson uses lovely skill, scuffs his shot and and bobbles into the net. Their second involved so much luck it was unbelievable as did our second. If not for a better bit of control from our forward we would've robbed their house not just picked their pocket!!! I'm feeling very positive today... We have so far played Man Utd and Spurs at home and got something from them both. Can anyone remember the last time we did that at our place? Rodwell hasn't played for a long time and is just getting back to fitness. While he had a hand in their second goal he was all over yesterday. He was also trying to move the ball and play football when he gave it away which is the Poyet way
We are improving and as the season wears on will only get better, with a bit of luck a top ten finish is possible.
Jail? We were on death row and waiting for the governor to issue a last minute pardon Spurs were very good and Sunderland, last season, would've folded under the pressure. Top marks to the team for keeping it going and Poyet for the substitutions
We are slowly laying the bogey's and a point is a brilliant priceless reward for tenacity and team spirit, these things will see us through this season and our first win can't be too far away.
You'd think so, two away games and two very tough home games but just one narrow defeat. I wish I was going to Burnley .......... they've only scored one and shouldn't put us under pressure for the majority of the game.
Its nice to see every result upto now has been better than the corresponding games last seaon so we are moving in the right direction.
Tottenham were fast & pressed us hard on the few occasions that we had possession. I like the way this Pochettino gets his sides playing, think he will do very well at a club like Spurs having more resources available than he did at Southampton. We picked up a point despite being poor against a better side than us, got to be happy with that. Not many clubs will play to the level that Spurs do and think that we will see a much different game against Burnley, at least I hope so because you can never tell with us.
You always like to think that you have a chance of 3 points against Spurs. Unfortunately on this occasion they played well......fortunately we got a sneaky point! That'll do me!
Just to note, if you're comparing the same team-for-team games as last season, played at different times of the year, that doesn't really mean jackshit. What's really positive is how we've fought back several times to get that point. We'd have given up in the past. As has been pointed out elsewhere we've been victim to the vagaries of the fixture list and had a couple of tough openers at home, but we haven't lost at home to Man U and Spurs, arguably 2 of the best 5 teams in the league and that's a big big plus! I'm quite excited about this season (we also have a cup-hungry manager as well)! What's not to like? But, we need that first win on the board. That'll settle nerves somewhat. Once we get that I honestly believe we'll kick on!
