Reading Football Club can confirm that captain Jobi McAnuff and fellow promotion winners Mikele Leigertwood and Kaspars Gorkss are leaving the club as their contracts have come to a conclusion. The trio will forever remain etched in the history of Reading Football Club. They leave with the very best wishes and utmost respect of everyone at Madejski Stadium. In addition, we also have the very highest regard for Wayne Bridge and Stuart Taylor, whose contracts have also ended. They are part of our club’s history and we are very grateful for their contribution, especially during that unbelievable promotion season. We truly wish them well. "Wayne and Stuart were also both highly valued members of our squad; Wayne had a difficult time with injuries after being in the Championship team of the year last season, while Stuart has served us very well and his attitude has been absolutely first class." Manager Nigel Adkins said, "I would like to place on record my thanks to Jobi, Mikele, Kaspars, Wayne and Stuart for their efforts and contribution to the cause. "Jobi has captained the team so well and for what he’s achieved he will be always be remembered here. Ledge has worked tirelessly to come back from injury this season and I’ve said many times how much I admire his attitude. Kaspars is captain of his country and is a true professional who sets a great example. "Wayne is a top player whose season was sadly hampered by injury but he’s worked ever so hard, and Stuart played in my very first game in charge and has always been a beneficial positive influence around the place. We wish them well in their continued careers." 32-year-old McAnuff has been at Reading for five years, longer than any of his other clubs, and in 2012 he became only the second man to captain Reading into the Premier League. He played 198(+8) games in a Reading shirt - including all 38 of our games in the top flight last season - and scored 16 goals along the way. Leigertwood will forever be remembered for scoring the goal that sealed promotion in 2012, and he also made a huge contribution in our play-off push twelve months earlier, staying unbeaten in his first 20 League games after joining from QPR. And despite missing most of this season through injury, in total the 31-year-old played 105(+4) games for the Royals. Gorkss, 32, was another key member of our title-winning side in 2012, playing 42 consecutive games that season after joining from QPR. Captain of Latvia, he continued to be a key player this season and played another 24 League games to take his Reading career total to 86(+1), with eight goals. 33-year-old left back Bridge was unfortunate with injuries in this campaign, but showed undoubted class in his 11(+1) appearances in a Reading shirt. He had played 40 times for Brighton in the previous year to make the Championship team of the season.
