What a twat, drawing a comparison between Ched Evans not accepting his guilt and the fight for justice for the 96. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/pfa-boss-sparks-fury-comparing-8409641 He's been in his lofty position as PFA chief for around 30years and is the highest paid Union leader on the planet, along with that comes responsibility for what he says and does and using the ongoing inquests as a barometer as to Evans (innocence) and fighting tooth and nail to paint Evans as a poor lad who's been wronged and wrongly found guilty. No surprise then that Evans is British, his past form backing foreign players that contribute to his ridiculous salary and lifestyle during their time of controversy has not been as militant as his stance over Evans.
His actions around Suarez and terry tell the story He's got a white, English player who's getting a lot of abuse for his conviction so he uses hillsborough Hmmmmmm wonder about that, that's all i will say
He left Suarez out to hang and even going back to Cantona's kung foo attack he didn't back him like he's backed Evans.
The Evans case is really tricky in Taylor's position. The stupid thing is to even suggest that there may be a connection (if only in principle) between the two. I never have liked Taylor anyway
Yeah, before his interview he obviously planned his response so making the comment wasn't a spontaneous reaction, shows were his barometer of decency lies. I never liked the fat **** even before he became PFA chief.
What the **** has Hillsborough got to do with that, the guy's a ****** for trying to draw that connection
Fat establishment prick I would say this is unbelievable...but coming from that twats mouth I'm really not surprised.
I saw this this morning. I can understand the angle he was getting at but seriously, stop and think for one minute second. Ridiculous thing to say
I listened to Taylor apologise on TS this morning for his comment. I can understand the point he was trying to make but the analogy was stupid and I'm certain he regrets using it. I don't think it needs sack cloth and ashes and a resignation though
Yeah, agree with this. He was silly and he's apologised. Its just astonishing that he thought it would be okay to say it in the first place
He should at least have a large fine and be required to take a course on appropriate use of media though?
A dignified acceptance of his apology from the Hillsborough families. Ched Evans: Gordon Taylor sorry for Hillsborough comparison Gordon Taylor has apologised after comparing the Hillsborough tragedy to the Ched Evans rape case. "The last thing I intended to do was to upset anybody connected to the Hillsborough case," the Professional Footballers' Association chief said. His apology has been accepted by some Hillsborough families, but Barry Devonside, who lost his son in the disaster, called Taylor "foolhardy". "He really needs to connect brain with mouth," added Devonside. Brenda Fox, who also lost a son during the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989, was more forgiving of Taylor. "No hard feelings to the man at all," she told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I think it was a mistake. It was just one of those off-the-cuff things that people say and they shouldn't say and they regret. Play media Listen to Gordon Taylor's apology to Hillsborough families. Evans was jailed in April 2012 for raping a woman but continues to maintain his innocence following his release last year. He was poised for a return to football with Oldham Athletic, only for the League One club to abandon the move on Thursday. Reacting to that news, Taylor had drawn comparisons between the Hillsborough tragedy and the Evans case when he told BBC Radio 5 live that the footballer "would not be the first person or persons to have been found guilty and maintained their innocence and then been proved right". Taylor added: "If we are talking about things in football, we know what happened, what was alleged to have happened at Hillsborough. "It's now unravelling and we are finding it was very different to how it was portrayed at the time, indeed by the police at the time." Phil Scraton, a Hillsborough expert and adviser to the bereaved families, called Taylor's comments "crass, insensitive and inappropriate"
So why delete my comment saying Taylor hasn't done nothing wrong? Have a look at other supporters threads about the subject, you are in the minority in your views.
Taylor could have used many different cases to draw a comparison with Evans, he chose the wrong one considering none of those that died at Hillsborough were convicted rapists trying to get the conviction overturned. But whatever rocks your boat feller.
