A true legend of the game, had he not gone down with a bug before the West Germany game in 1970 I'm sure we would have gone on to at least the final. Here's one of his most memorable saves in the League Cup semi-final denying Geoff Hurst from the spot kick...
An absolutely fantastic keeper and a real gentleman too. As Super says, if he'd played in that game against West Germany I'm sure we would have been in the final. Oh........... And that save!
A truly great keeper, but my favourite memory of him is not for one of his saves, but for a goal he conceded. I was behind Banks's goal when Les Allen chipped him from the edge of the box with the ball hitting the bar, then Banks, and over the line. I'd been lucky enough to be at Wembley to see Banks pick up a World Cup winner's medal, but here he was just a few months later getting four put past him by my team on a quite incredible night at Loftus Road. http://www.indyrs.co.uk/2016/10/50-years-ago-today-qpr-4-leicester-city-2/
