David Goodwillie's rape charges have been dropped . So looks like he has been a "goodwillie" Anyway he's back on the market again and personally i think he would be a cracking signing for us at a 2 million asking price . do you guys think we now have enough up front and should concentrate on defence or go for another forward as well . thoughts . coyb
Be a gamble. After just signing JET from Gladiators, Lightning is the priority. In all seriousness, we have a lot upfront. Check defence, CB in particular. Absense in numbers, a complete lack of. We need at minimum 1 GOOD cb. I'm quite happy with the options we have in attack ( the first time since Lee + Counago I can actually see a couple of partnership combos that could work ). I'd also rather have a creative mid as opposed to a striker. We could be lacking in that area.
I think he would be a decent option up top. Jewell has been pretty shrewd so far and not spent an awful lot of money... However if we want to transform our side from average to something a bit special we may have to spend £3,000,000 and upwards for players such as Howson and Snodgrass from Leeds, King and Gallacher from Leicester etc. These are the sort of quality players we have not had for too long now. I'm can't bare thinking about the defence at the moment, I wouldn't suggest we go mad and spend 5M on a central defender like Leicester but a couple for 1M - 1.5M each may be what we need.
Not overly keen to be honest, especially for the transfer fee. He's had one good season at 22, the rest have been average at best. Scoring goals in the Scots prem means nothing. Take Marco Negri + Jorge Cadete..... If he has another good season maybe, JET is a gamble to me I'd rather not spend a lot of £££ on to me what's another complete gamble....
Westlake Agree with your opinion on JET, i'm not so sure it was a good move by PJ but time will tell and i hope i'm wrong. I still think we are in dire need of a creative midfielder and this to me is the most important position to fill. Its all well and good signing these strikers but they need a decent supply and i have little confidence in the likes of Leadbitter!! Still PJ says that there are still more to come, which means at least 2 more new players, hopefully a CM and CB!!
Blackpool and Cardiff are hot on the heels of Goodwillie too so I would imagine that chances of us also entering the fray would be quite small.
We need to focus on getting a CB more than anything else. I'd only got for another striker if we shifted someone out, say... Scotland?
Cardiff have Miller + Earnshaw. That potentially to me is as good as anything in the division, so not entirely sure they'd be interested. Agree regarding Leadbitter - I'm NOT a huge fan whatsoever, however alongside Bowyer if their the base for the wingers to fly forwards then fine. At least Leadbitter is unlikely to be on set pieces this season, thats a huge plus. His delivery is shocking. Alongside Bowyer his game may improve...... Between him + Norris I'm not sure there was a lot of brainpower upstairs. Running and effort yes, reading the game nope. I'd rather get another CM in. Koumas to me is a gamble well worth taking on a freeby. He hasn't been picket up yet, worth a shot. Whittingham is far too expensive for what he is. Good out wide not good enough as part of a middle two, no chance.
I agree with Koumas on a free. If we can get him and Bullard plus a CB we will be in business. Shifting out Scotland and Priskin and bringing in Ebanks Blake and Ched Evans would be perfect!
I do like this forward line up though: Chopra JET Martin Carson If all of these are playing at the top of their game, then thats a mouth watering front line!
I reckon that, with the most recent two signings, the squad we have now is the one we will start the season with and that there will be no further additions.
Igarmarsson and Delaney may start but we have to get another centre back in. Leadbitter had to cover for headless chicken Norris and was pulled out of position a lot last season. He'll be better during this one I'm sure. The captaincy issue needs resolving as well, lots to do......
We seem to have cooled over Goodwillie since we signed Miller but will need back up for injuries. Dundee want £2million if you can get him he looks good! Malkay is using Whitts as central to his plans and that is the reason he wont be sold. Jet can look so good on the ball at times but getting him to pass was a problem for us but he is young if you can improve him you will have a player worth a lot of money.
I dont think the front line is finished yet. We may well sign a CB, central midfielder and another striker before the window closes and we may well add one or two on loan in September.
