The BBC article mentioned 900,000,000 reasons for the FA to sell: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43910691
Don't actually know. On news earlier it said they still owe 120m on it, which isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. It all sounds good when you hear it but I find it hard to believe they'll allow England to use the stadium indefinitely in any final agreement. On the upside they reckoned it would help pay for 1500 3g pitches at grassroot level.
If it means England tour round the UK when playing so it's not always in London then can only be a good thing. What a waste though, build it for £750m, use it for a few years then sell it for barely any profit.
It won't though. They are pushing to stay at Wembley and that will no doubt over time become an expensive residency. The Jacksonville Jaguars will get a good deal though. This whole thing doesn't make any sense to me at all. You don't sell of the crown jewels, even (especially?) for a short term investment in artificial pitches.
Terrible idea. Such a sad indictment of what the FA has allowed itself to become by not modernising and selling its soul all those years ago. Picked off by vultures. An American football team rinsing them for our national stadium. What next St George’s Park? Useless ****s.
It's not £900 million offered at all, it's a £600 million offer and the FA could keep the corporate hospitality side, which has been given a ridiculous valuation of £300 million and is not part of the transaction. If England don't play there, because games would coincide with the American football seasons, then it's pointless. It's like previous governments selling our natural resources for a one time, seemingly ok deal, only to completely screw us over for future. Having said that, I don't care about Wembley, as I'll never go there in my life.
Meh.................. sell it off, stop playing anything other than cup finals there and get the England team playing around the country again.
I'm surprised how unbothered I am about this. I think its because it doesn't feel like selling off Wembley. It feels like they have sold off that new stadium where Wembley used to be.
Why build a new National Stadium and then sell it off? Can see England playing games on pitches with the American Football lines showing through.
