He had a brilliant game at Port Vale. Didn't seem to feature as much as I expected in other games - and when he came onto the pitch , the result had usually been determined and the dynamics of the play was totally different. I wish him luck - but he might struggle to get in their first team at the moment. I would be happy to see him back at the club in another loan deal if required.
I know I may have expected too much but I thought he would be much more effective at this level would still have him back though!
He did not seem to have the appetite when playing for us so think this is for the best, hopefully Birchall will get a good chance for us and plays well, so happy he is back now with some first team football behind him now.
After watching birchall last night for darts against mansfield town, I must say i found it hard to see what he will bring to the table at this moment in time because though he hit the post and did lay three or four good balls off, I'm not sure what he will bring to a winning league side right now. Don't get me wrong because I want a deadly fox in the box who will get us a hatfull of goals...adam birchall i'd hope is that man. Though i think he has a long way to go before he's anywhere near back to his best and then he's still unproven at our level. I'd still invest come jan 2013 in a striker.
I reckon give Adam some time against Sc'thorpe in the Cup. Either first 65 mins or last 25 mins. If he can just get some game time under his belt for us, I reckon he will become the regular scorer in the box for us and the ideal person to have rotating with Keds, Burton, Weston and Strevons. If MA doesn't see it this way, then he may just be moved on in Jan and a new striker coming in to add to that list. But I for one hope he's the man. We all thought so when he first arrived with Keds.
