I would pay £1000 if i could go back in time to 1964 and the epic Man u f a cup game. My dad worked at Earnshaws bakery at the time ( roker avenue) and said he had never seen anything like what he saw that night, or 1961 the home Spurs match f a cup also. In 1979 a ticket for a mainstand seat was £2.50!,(i still have the ticket stub). Chelsea away the 2ng leg of the League cup semi in 1985 was the most intimidating for me, we got there 5 minutes after the match kicked off and were 1-0 down, but of course went on to win 3-2, but when the Chelsea hooligans started running across the pitch i thought, something nasty is going to happen here(or words to that effect!) they were throwing seats and alsorts but not at us. Leeds was dodgey as a half brick bounced of my window on the coach as we left their ground(1980's), Liverpool away 1983 when we got diverted from anfield after a 1-1.When i worked as a decorator in 1988, i worked in Billy simmonds( fantastic programme expert and knowledge of SAFC) mother and fathers house, in Redhouse and was surprised when she told me who they were. She was at the 75,000 Derby 1933 f a cup game! and she sat on the touchline at the match. The best match atmosphere was the 1978 world cup final, but loudest was 1985 milk cup final( i was there)101,000 gate!. Great memories.
