I don't normally start up threads, and certainly never have done on another clubs board before, however I felt this was warranted.

It is nice to see some happiness on this board after what has been a tumultuous couple of months. Some of the signings you have made have been fantastic (AJ was an absolute steal for 10 million imo). This can only be good for North Eastern football. I reckon the very worst you will do is 10th place. AJ alone elevates you to a potential top 8.

Anyway, congrats and ignore the WUMS.

cheers QWOP, it only takes one over posting apple to spoil the barrel (I won't say rotten because he wasn't), so along with this, the start of the season and a couple of quality (Fletch is open for debate, Johnson not debatable) signings the not606 Sunderland forum is buzzing with good craic from supporters of any denomination.

Always ignore them mate just wish a few more of our lot would. Agreed about Johnson top player for me and, I'm glad he chose football over cash and bright lights hopefully a few more will see it that way.
Don't worry about starting threads on here barcodes like yourself are more than welcome.

AJ is a local lad. He was always going to choose you over most. He tried to go for the big bucks and it hit him hard.

QWOP. Just posted on another thread that I was interested to hear your thoughts as I think you are the best of the nufc posters on here.

Then I tune back in and here you are. Lol

It was a great day to be a Sunderland fan and I don't think its over yet. This Dempsey story is gathering the same pace as the Johnson one a few days ago and I don't think Liverpool have the money without selling Carroll and it doesn't look like there are any takers.

We may not have been his first thought but Johnsons signature will show our ambition and maybe he would be persuaded we are a club worthy of commiting to now. Saha, Cuellar, Fletcher, Johnson, Strinic (possibly tomorrow) and then Dempsey to cap it off.

If you got Dempsey as well, I would place you above Liverpool and it would probably be a direct fight between ourselves for the final European place. That would be amazing!

I know nothing of Strinic but I assume he is the left back you desperately crave.

Thank you for your kind words Cest. Unlike most toon fans, I have no hate for you guys. Not being from the area probably helps. I just love the North East (York is not quite in it sadly) and make frequent(ish) trips up.

Lol, if that indeed the case on the final day of the season I can imagine a few nervous breakdowns.

Nice post QWOP, without any little nibbles or anything.

I tell you mate, yesterday was wonderful, it was nerve wracking, it was exciting, and it felt like the day we actually stepped out of the shadows.

When we signed Bent, we knew he was coming, the other clubs in where, without disrespect, of a similar level to us or less, and the lad was tweeting his desire to come.

AJ was different, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, briefly yourselves, that's fierce competition, the lad is a cracking, young, direct and skilful England international, it was tough to take in that we'd get him!

I was delighted with the intent shown to push it a bit further than we planned so MON got his man in Fletcher, but I guess the feeling we all had when it started to become clear AJ was coming was akin to you guys buying Ginola et al back in the day.

Many of us stayed on here late, almost not wanting the day to end, and the buzz, the statement, the global nature of the transfer makes it so much more significant than us buying a wonderful player.

I thank MON, Short & Byrne (and Catts, believe me, he'll have been grafting on AJ!) for reminding me what it feels like to have a great day with the love of your life, and now I beg of the players, lets not be old Sunderland and fluff our lines, let's get a n ice 3 points on the board today for a superb start to the season.

You watched a show on clubbing as opposed to actually going out clubbing.....! Age can be cruel :p

    Ha ha.

Mate, I work in clubs most nights, very rarely do I feel the need to go to them when not working.

Do you go into the office on your day off?

I eat out a lot instead nowadays, not that I don't still enjoy it, but generally i'll work 2-3 hours, but be in a venue for 7-8. For free. Actually, they pay me...

    Winner.

The show was superb, I was recording it anyway, but couldn't pull myself away!

See now this is why it doesn't bother me when Mags post on here, when they are being honest and not just trying to score points.
Without any sly digs or but "name of player" is better.
QWOP can still take the piss when he wants and has done in the past and seems to have canny craic.
As does Sombrero and Jarra and others to be fair even BallBag.
The sad WUM's or thread destroyers should learn from the likes of the above.
