What with the news now emerging that the FL has agreed to comply with the new UEFA financial rules, did our meltdown come at a good time. In my view we have (nearly) stabilised with new owners (who actually want to be owners!!) and are essentially starting again, and with these new rules, surely there is no way lightning can strike twice (touch wood). The next few seasons should see a decent grounding created for us to push off from, so I for one am feeling disturbingly optimistic for the future. Every cloud and all that comes to mind...
Yes, yes and triple yes. Our meltdown can only be seen as a good thing - had we continued the way we were going - running at 100% wages etc then we would be in trouble. Atleast now we have a CVA that dictates who and what we can pay and for the first time in god knows how long, we made a profit last year.
One set of UEFA financial rules for smaller clubs and another for the likes of Barcelona etc etc. If UEFA really go ahead and apply these new rules to the letter the only big European league without any problems would be the Bundesliga.
I would love to see this new rule employed in the prem as well, and really wouldnt mind seeing citeh or chelski suffer abit by being banned from europe. Would at least provide some entertainment
