Over the last few years it hasn't been much fun being a sports fan in Bristol. Under-achievement, unfulfilled promises and relegations have blighted our main teams. Now Rovers, City and Bristol Rugby are flying. Then there's Jo Pavey and Claudia Fragapane; and also various boxers enjoying success. We can even soak up by association some of the achievements at the University of Bath. Somerset CCC fans are enthusiastic about the appointment of Matthew Maynard; and Gloucestershire CCC have finally said goodbye to the dour John Bracewell who achieved little in his second tenure at Nevile Road. So perhaps in the summer we will be celebrating the promotions of Rovers and Bristol Rugby; with City having won the JPT, having a good FA Cup run and only missing out on promotion in the play-offs ....and Glos and Zummerset start off in winning ways! Ah well, let's enjoy it while it lasts.............................!
I desperately hope you are right about Rovers and Bristol Rugby, not to bothered about the city though your wish for them would be welcome. The fact that even coming on the forum is so much more pleasant this year as we enjoy rare success in the blue half of town. I believe that the signings made in this window will define our season just like it did last year. When May comes and we are back in league 2 the we can all say and mean it HAPPY NEW YEAR
Blue half of town, that made me laugh, I have recently moved to Stoke Gifford and I am amazed at the amount of REDS and City fans here, believe me we are here in force in the North and I'm sure there are a blue few in the South as well. Congratulations on your manager being crowned Vanarama Conference manager of the month..
I'm really enjoying this season. The season we got promoted only really took off after Christmas. This season it's been great being in the mix most of the time. It's been interesting seeing the fans reactions as the season's gone along. I think more people are realising we've got a decent team now and a potentially great manager.
I know mate, conference football, it's a bleedin' disgrace, don't worry Nick the Higgs will get you back soon...
Wiz has moved to Stoke Gifford to be closer to the UWE project. He has been secretely breeding newts and will be soon releasing them into the wild, conveniently on the same land as where UWE stadium will be built, knowing full well that it will be illegal for us to disturb their 'new' habitat
The newts are already in a small pond next door to the new stadium site at UWE. Wiz will fit in well as he seems to be permanently pi**ed as....
