6 games unbeaten and still only 6 points away from the bottom 3. There are a lot of Clubs with concerns and, for us, it could still be squeeky bum time especially if 'arry gets QPR rolling. I won't be convinced of safety until we have 40 points and there is a long way to go to achieve that.

I must confess, we have caught Arsenal, Man U, Villa, Everton at good times.

There are still some quite major flaws to how we play which will get found out against teams playing well.

Our ability to keep the ball and work decent chances is appalling.

It's not making chances which is our "flaw" at all, it's the finishing them off.

Arsenal were on decent form when we beat them and Everton have been playing brilliantly this season so I wouldn't say it was good times to play them two.

Lighten up a bit and embrace the results.

Glass half full or empty Carrabuh?... Right now with the change in Norwich's performance that Hughton has driven, not only is my glass half-full but i've got the rest of a nearly-full bottle to go too!

    Cheers <bubbly>

It's not going to be 40 this season. We are one point adrift of where we were after 13 games last season.Although then we had played seven home and six away matches. My feeling this year is that 40 points will see us around where we are currently in the table.

Depends upon which stats you look at. After 13 games last year QPR had 15 points - our current total - and Villa were 8th. Both were lucky to stay up!! Last year 37 points was enough to stay up but 2 clubs were cut adrift and there was only a 3 club battle for the other spot. As it stands I cannot see 2 clubs who are likely to get cut adrift this year especially if 'arry gets QPR on a roll and I think there will be more than 5 clubs involved in the overall relegation battle which could push up the points total required. A couple of defeats could see anybody in the bottom half of the table back in it. We shall see.

yep, agree with this. it could be 41, it could be 33, it could be anything. way too early to say at this stage but the best way of looking at it is this: there are only about 8 teams who certainly won't be involved in a relegation battle. that leaves as many as 12 who are or could be dragged into it. we are one of those and we will be throughout the season. hopefully we won't become embroiled in it as much as others and i indicated a couple of weeks ago that if we can maintain a five point cushion (more or less) over the bottom three then we should feel very pleased with ourselves. people said saints were doomed three weeks ago. if they beat us this week they are just one point adrift...

United were rubbish against us and a defeat was on the cards at some point, they were rubbish against Villa and QPR and lucky to win both. The difference was our defence.

The flaws to our play is crossing far too early, its why we are not creating good chances, keeping the ball, not working the ball to the byline to cross. We were just chucking the ball into the box before we even reach the penalty area against Everton.

    I don't blame the strikers.

Even if (and I don't believe it to be the case) Man U, Arsenal and Everton all had "off-days" against us, their "off-days" are the equivalent of most teams "good-days".

We are a decent act nowadays.

To be honest I don't think Man U are a particularly great team, their midfied and defence are very average. Arsenal are certainly out of sorts at the moment as are Everton.

Don't get me wrong we played very well against MU and Arsenal, I just don't want us to morph into Stoke with this cross on sight policy which is becoming more and more prominant. We will get found out with it. The Everton game was just a dreadful advert for football.
