    Morocco drop duo for friendly
    21 February 2012, 20:08

Morocco coach Eric Gerets has dropped Adel Taarabt of Queens Park Rangers and Heerenveen's Oussama Assaidi for next week's friendly against Burkina Faso in Marrakesh.

The Morocco Football Federation said on Tuesday that Abdelaziz Barrada of Getafe and PSV Eindhoven's Zakaria Labyad had been called up for the first time for the February 29 fixture.

Gerets's team were among the pre-tournament favourites for the 2012 African Nations Cup but were eliminated from the competition early.

Morocco have also dropped French-based midfielder Youssouf Hadji, a long-standing member of the squad, and defender Ahmed Kantari, who was widely criticised for his displays at the Nations Cup, for the Burkina Faso game.

Gerets is using the friendly to prepare for forthcoming World Cup qualifiers including a tough match against Ivory Coast in June.

Depends on why he was dropped and what it does to his head.

Hope he's not been dropped on his head again Eamon! <doh>

At least he won't have to travel to Africa mid week and can concentrate on getting ready for Everton.

I thought he said a few months back that he didn't want to play for Morroco anymore. Me thinks our Adel is a bit of a petulant spoilt brat.
Hopefully Sparky can make him see the light....the futures blue and white.

I doubt the manager would think that it's worth the effort of motivating Adel for a friendly match against Burkina Faso.

I'd also reckon Mark Hughes would be requesting him to be released from duty due to his recent performances, our league position and the amount of time we've been without him.
