I would not imagine any gay couple wishing to get married would want to do so in a Catholic church or CofS anyway - why celebrate what's supposed to be the happiest day of your life in a place run by an instituion that is so narrow minded it won't make you feel welcome?
The church needs to understand that there are many gay Christians who believe in God ... Look at Ireland!
You can be certain that a gay couple will apply to marry in a church/chapel, get refused then take it to th European court.

I would imagine there are plenty gay christians who want to get married in a church. Anyway, the church will be allowed to opt out if they want to.
If you're a gay christian would you not appreciate that, under the laws of the church, marriage is a union between a man and a woman? If you didn't accept that then you would refuse to go to church.
