Morning Everyone, Bahrain-based International Investment Bank (IIB) has bought a 10 per cent stake in Leeds United from GFH Capital, With this deal, IIB's chief executive, Aabed Al-Zeera, will join the board of Leeds City Holdings Limited, the company which runs the club. please log in to view this image GFH Capital said the deal with the Bahraini Islamic investment bank was part of its strategy of bringing in additional investors to develop the mighty Whites. We also now know that GFH paid 22 million to buy Leeds 3 months ago. Also recently reported on Leedsunited.com : GFH Capital expects to announce further sales of shares in Leeds United in the weeks ahead after relinquishing a 10 per cent stake to an investment bank in Bahrain. Alright lads Looks like GFH are selling shares to their buddies - EII (European Investment Bank) are a very small business - think they lost quite a lot of money recently. Trouble with selling the shares like this is that it will make it very difficult to sell on to one owner or consortium in the future (see Arsenal). You cn bet your bottom Bahrani dollar that Sharia compliance will become an issue for you soon too, especially with interest payments and clubs that deal in staggered payment (most outside the Prem).
